Post by tectoteam »

i do not have facility with anodize, but i'd like to get opinions about short time wear with alternator and other stuff home made alloy pulleys for trapezoidal belts shape.

i plan to built alloy pulleys for some reasons.
most common of time they are color anodized for esthetic value, but did they are really hard anodized to in regard of wearing ?

....

Heres a representative picture, thanks to courtenay motorsports picked on the google

Anodizing gives a surface hardness to aluminum....the color is a bounus. Weather or not you anodize your aluminum pullys, don't expect them to last like steel ones (anodized will last longer than not)

In the past there was no color choice .... there was black... now there are many colors to choose from and there is clear anodizing. All do the same thing as far as surface hardness goes. It is a relatively inexpensive process and commonly available in most manufacturing areas.
