Rods - 3.2 vs 3.0 vs 2.5

Post by la_strega_nera »

Are they the same length and it's all done with piston deck heights?

3.2 has the same rods with the 3.0 &2.5 . But the piston pin placement was changed for the 3.2 compared to the 3.0, besides the obvious stroke change.

24v rods are different from the 12v, just not in length... They are better/stronger.

i think Kevin can tell you the exact difference. :)

I think someone mentioned that the absence of the oil squirt hole at the big end added to strength? Apparently the oil hole is where some fractures form. Maybe newer 12V rods in the 1990's no longer have the oil hole. Urban legend?

My 164 rods (91') have the oil squirt hole.

Jason - not up to anything, was just exercising the brain cells as to how you'd make a 3.2 cranked 12V.
