Hi , the rubber in my rear engine mount bush all but fell out with the metal fitting when I undid it.

What do you use to press the metal sleeve out and new bush in?

I planned to used the threaded metal bar with sockets and nuts to get it out but the diameter is 62mm and I dont have a socket anywhere big enough!

I've lookie donline and cannot find any thick washers or sockets big enough for the job. Is there an Afla tool or a tip anyone can help with and I also have the gearbox one to do and again no scoket big enough to drift it out or use the threaded bar method.

Cheers

Cut a wedge across the width of the sleeve with a hacksaw, then just push it out or maybe persuade it with a hammer/chisel.

Cheap too. :)

I've used 2 different sized pipes to press the new 1 in. Even exhaust pipe will do the job as long as the ends are cut square (we're not talking 1000's of kg's of load here).
1 needs to support the aluminium mount around the bore for the bush and the other pushes on the steel shell of the bush just fits inside the bore of the mount. Each piece needs to be long enough to allow for 1 side of the mounting arm that goes through centre of the bush.
Then it's off to the press. Lubricate the steel shell with a water dispersant spray and make sure you have the mounting arm lined up.

Cheers Duk!

Just actually picked up 2 holesaws, on the 62mm diameter of the bush and one 80mm for the rear, so going to have a go with them, will let you know how it goes
