Sorry Z, I just saw your post! Motivation?....You guys! I want to include such a 3liter conversion in the book as I feel a lot of readers would be curious (I am too!). Of course this will be combined with the appropriate EFI, but thats all I can say for now.
Would you believe I don't know what make the TB's are? I haven't asked the seller! I'll find out when I receive them, I guess.
Preliinary flowtests are showing that the 3liter will need uncomfortably high rpm to make good power with TB's. I consider this an unfortunate fact, especially when what most of us are looking for, is a dual-duty car (everyday+track day). We'll see how it turns out in the end. :?:

Thats right, FREE books, on one condition: you come HERE and pick it up personally! This only applies to out-of-Greece residents. And to take care of any smart-ass Greeks coming back here for vacation, it doesn't apply to them, hah! Thought you'd break the bank huh??
Every freebie has a catch!

Jim,

When you mean appropriate EFI, does that mean an aftermarket one or a reprogrammed BOSCH unit? Is this for the current 12V or the 24V?

The stuff looks good. And the price you paid for it looks good too!!

As for the SPICA all I intend to do is cut them up and weld them up to something.... hehe.

Zamani,
This set is for the 12v engine I'm building now. I will not use the Bosch EFI, I'm going aftermarket. But there are a few OEM systems that work with throttle angle alone and some MAP. We'll see.
Be advised that for the 3liter, any TB over 38mm is going a bit big, pushing revs out of reach (with proper flow). Its here you'll find out more flow is no good!!
The 24v has large runners already but under a modded 75 plenum, which means too short! Its a lose-lose situation here!

Ps Jim how about the TS supplement

When I also start fiddling around on the V6, my girlfriend will for sure move my clothes and stuff to the tool shed. And I have you to blame that there is no proper book for the TS

JimGreek,

All the M cars have ITBs but none of them are exactly HONDA VTEC screamers. OK 7K-7.8K rpm as opposed to 8-9K rpm on some Hondas (which do not use ITBs).

So why is it that for 12V engines the power band will move out of the usable range? Can't you counter that effect with longer runners? Or will longer runners negate the benefits of ITBs. Those M5 runners look pretty long.

Unless you are implying that since the safe mechanical rev limit for the 12V is around 6.5K, if you make peak power at a little over 7K then you are really asking for an early demise of the rods?

Thats it exactly Z, the 3liter will top out at about 6800 in stock form. If now, say, power is max at 6900 or higher, you really need better innards, unless you use lower cams for lower revs, in which case you really don't need the TB's!
