I pulled my oil pan off of my 3.0 verde block that I hope to install soon and I noticed that the machinists that assembled it did not use locking crowns or locking tab washers on the main bearing caps. I have a spare parts 2.5 block with lock crowns and tab washers and I am wondering if I should use those parts on my 3.0.
Some say that alfa put them there for a reason, others have told me that they would never re-use hardware like that, they would only install new pieces.
Does anyone have an opinion they could share?
Thanks
Re: locking crowns on main bearing caps
Currently planning to use the crowns from the 2.5 unless someone thinks that it's a bad idea.
Re: locking crowns on main bearing caps
My 3.0 didn't have them. So i rebuilt the engine without them. I get the feeling some v6 engines have them and some don't...
