Engine Failures

Post by matt »

I was thinking about an engine i stuffed after a big rev a number of years ago and how the piston rings broke into small sections imbedding themself at all sorts of angles to the piston and wished i had taken a photo......
Which got me thinking there must be some bloody great (+ sad) photos out there of all sorts of engine damage

Show us you re worst/bizare :D photos and how it happened ("war stories")....

Heres a non alfa( apology don't have any alfa ones  ) one to start

Good idea Matt.Like you I don't have any Alfa photos (is there such a thing ? ) but earlier this summer my business partner sent me this one.He was driving around in his Triumph TR8 when he heard/felt a very disconcerting explosion from the engine bay. This is what can happen when a valve keeper lets go and the valve drops down and slices the piston in two.His oil consumption has been a little high ever since
