CSC headers

Post by Bruce »

....I know they fit but I read somewhere (may be I am wrong) that the primaries are too small for a modified 3 litre.

Seb,

I think there are 2 SECONDARY sizes (2" or 1.75"), the bigger one called the SV. Primary sizes are all the same, 1.5" ID.

OK, I got it backwards then, sorry.
So the primaries are a bit under sized? Good for how many bhp? I´m considering CSC for my 3.0QV engine, will that be sufficent? It´s about 210-215 bhp i think.

You mean a stock GTV6 3.0 with 9.5:1 pistons and maybe S-cams getting 260PS? What was the reading at the wheels?

I wonder how many hp it would produce with proper (bigger) sized primaries...

I just got some new info from EB spares in England. The CSC "big bore" headers are 5mm bigger in the PRIMARIES!:-) This is what he wrote:
The big bore is designed for 3.0 with extra power, but it means you have to fit the complete system to match! Its only 5mm bigger on the primary pipes, so not that much bigger.
If you only want to fit the manifold std bore is fine.

The primaries width (all three togeahter) should still be less of a resitance than the secondary, so I wonder if the primary dimention is really a problem. (?)

Just a thought...

You can't just add area for the primaries and compare to the sacondary, the exhaust gasses arrive to the secondary pipe in evenly spaced pulses so it does not require 3xprimary area.
