"So SparkIn goes to neg. coil. SparkGnd goes to engine. "

SparkGnd? There are three ways to get RPM signal but they all use just one of the terminals in the connector as far as I know. I have always used the "low input 5V" so I don't know exactly.

Gear calculations, do you have a wheel speed sensor? Or do you plan to use the GPS speed? No idea how to do that because I don't know what to do with the output...

Where do you tap the rpm signal from, in your GTV?

Jes and I are having problems with corrupted data on the CF card.

I stop AND turn off data logging before I shut the engine off, does anyone here know why the data is still corrupted?

For such an expensive equipment, to be affected by noisy power source or some voltage spikes is quite inexcusable.

I'm on the RT forum, and will call support tomorrow. One thing I am not using is a recommended CF card brand, so I may try that out first. But does anyone have any tips or hints?

I'm going to look into a G2X to see if that too has a similar problem. If changing card brands doesn't solve the problem with my DL-1, I'll just look into other devices. That would suck, as the DL-1 software seems to be one of the best one out there.

It happens now and then. Didn't find a pattern though. With 2 different equipment too. It's not related to CF cards as I used several.
When if fucks up it creates a new folder 1.4.2004 or something like that. The data was always OK though.
I made about 2000-2500 files and this happened 10 times (and I could always find the data) so I don't take too much stress of it.

BTW, ordered a Dash2 yesterday and it will be interesting to see how well that works.

The only issue like that I've encountered is when I'm indoors or forgot to hook up the GPS antenna.
Seems like the DL1 heavily depends on the GPS time signal and doesn't have an internal clock. It usually create data in a folder dated 17th of august... :?:

Are you indoor or outdoor Zamani? Tunnel/overpass/pitbox?

This last weekend AR4me and I were at a flat desert of a track. So no overpass etc. But I read their support site and they seem to think that one corrupted session can cause the whole card to be corrupted. That sucks. I've formatted my card and will try it out again after work.

Sounds like a plan.

And by the way, the DL1 is not expensive, it may be a big pile of cash but the value for money is fantastic so don't be so quick to throw in the towel... 8)

OK, that didn't work. My A-DATA CF card doesn't seem to work with DL1.

Inserted CF into DL1
Turned on engine, revved to 3000 rpm so alternator starts charging
Turned on DL1
Wait for GPS Lock
Started logging
Drove around in circles
Stopped logging
Turned off DL1
Turned off engine
Took out CF card

All I got was an empty folder named 042308.

Going to get a Sandisk CF card tomorrow to see if this is a problem. Their support site said CF card brand is important as the cheapie ones tend to be problematic.

Zamani,
As long as I (remember) to follow the sequence I mentioned to you:
1. stop logging
2. turn off DL1
3. turn off car
then it seems to work ok with my Sony CF card. Remote start-stop is also stable now - did change to shielded trigger wire.

Jes,

I read on their forums that the US dealer had problems with cheapo CF cards. They bought 30 CF cards from a local store for an SCCA autocross I think. Only 15 worked. others had corrupted data.

You know a few months ago I had problems with my Canon digital camera not working with a Transcend SD card.

So maybe, just maybe there is some truth in the CF card problem.

I'm sure there is, but I think there are additional issues...

I'm not sure if I should have done this to begin with. But I played around with the setup. I set it to automatically log after 35kph. Also tried the Sandisk Ultra II card, but I don't think that mattered. Anyway, after the car moved past that speed and the GPS signal was locked, the logging LED turned on. Later I downloaded the data and it looked ok. So for now I will just forget about the remote switch and just use the auto logging setup.

Next track event I want to get the track map (inside and outside edges) and RPM, that should really help out.

BTW Jes, can you upload some data of the Buttonwillow CCW #1 config? Would like to see your speed around the track :D

Ok, so new sh*t comes to light...

Did you actually miss the complete discussion about the remote log-switch? Throw that stupid switch out and start/stop the DL1 with the button on the unit. I bet that does wonders. :)
