Well finally the racer is taking shape.
For financial reasons it's going a bit slower than I want to (i'm finishing up the V6 Giulie and exhaust has taken a toll on the bank account..) and also the series haven't started yet.
Right now i'm at this point:

Got the RS racing kit
Std engine is a 1.6, got a twin spark but in order to be within rules I need to use carbs and mechanical ignition advance.
So right now i'm rebuilding the 1.6 to get going and next year put in the twin spark.

Engine wise: it's the Nord 1.6 with 1750 head ported to Jim's specs, CB47 cams, 2 liter intake valves, std 1.6 exhaust valves and forged high compression pistons.
Fed by twin 45 dcoe's.
Specs for the pistons are the following:
Compression height: 35mm
Dome volume: +14,58cc

I can ask for different compression ratio pistons, looking for about 11/1 compression ratio, any idea on specs for such a piston?

Also i'm at a crossroad on what to do regarding the roll cage. OMP makes one for the Giulie (it's around 700 dollars to buy, I need to figure out shipping and import costs but I figure about 1400 dollars total in the end) or make one over here. Now my question is....does anyone know if these OMP cages are any good?

Fed , I seriously doubt omp can make a bad product but if you do your own you can weld it all up to the body and go through into shock towers . ( yes you can add onto the omp one but then it's cert will become invalid . Not that yours would have it's certs ) also you can custom make it to suit your seat and height . Some bolt in cages are to close to the back of seat .

Cool, thanks for the input. The race series here need FIA homologated cages (wich the OMP one is) so any custom one will be at least like the OMP one plus any reinforcement beams.
I need the car to be lightweight as i'm using the std 1.6 for now (found a set of GTA pistons for dirt cheap that are in almost new shape) and using AVGAS probably as they are high compression and I only have CB47 cams from colombo and bariani.
This is to get the car going, once I get everything set up (and see how the series goes) i'll be building up the TS engine.
I think they are 12:1 pistons, but I can't tell until I cc the combustion chambers.
I'll post up some pictures later, they are the boxer type pistons.

Time for an update

We finally decided on a cheap approach just to get the car going:

TS Camshafts

AE high compression slipper pistons (I had those)

Worked 1750 head to Jim K's specs with 2L intake valves.

Balanced assembly and lightened flywheel

RS suspension setup with non adjustable shocks (rules don't allow)

RZ de dion ball joint and poly bushings

45 DCOE's (I already had those and don't have the 40's wich should be better)

Electronic ignition

75 TS front disks and calipers

Custom exhaust manifold

Here's the first pics, still deciding on the colour, need to fix a bit of surface rust, car is completely stripped and getting it's roll cage built.

The blue one is the racer, the red one is the V6 at the exhaust shop waiting for the manifolds :D
