Finally got around to getting another clutch made that will make car more street usable . Was bit of an effort pulling box out in the drive especially with a turn in the weather did not make it fun . Once clutch was out I made a home made dial gauge to measure max distance the proposed E34 M5 unit could be pushed back into the box .

I sent all the dimensions from this pic off to TTV racing who made a new flywheel for me in one piece . Flywheel weighs in at 5.6 kg . From here I took to flywheel to have the inbalance copied from my original . Luckily their is a chap who specialises in this type of balancing here in Uk at Basset Down Balancing . Some pics of two flywheels together .

Cheers mate ! Busy making clutch alignment tool from my socket set so I can put Humpty Dumpty back together . Hopefully we have some more good weather so I can go lie on the paving and shove the box back in . Got to gobthrough the process of getting clutch fork pivoting at correct point and making a stopper under pedal .
Will come visit end of January .

How many camber do you have in the rear wheel?

A friend who run with a 75 gr. A say me he have -2.5 degrees, but he has the original transmission..

thanks

My Dedion has -1 camber as standard but I have done quite a bit of welding on it for calliper clearance . It all depends on tyres and rim side you're using as I run 15" semi slick which would be different set up to someone running 17" full slick .

Small progress but making sure it's perfect with regards to the clutch fork pivoting . So had to measure exactly where thrust bearing would be sitting then set up fork just slightly off 90 degrees . Also needed to check clutch slave pin can extend 22mm in its starting position and does not run out of travel . Manufacture of this clutch recommends between 8-11 mm travel of thrust bearing thus giving 22mm on ends . Total travel of slave pin is actually 48mm . Once in car and system is bled I will put stopper in under pedal after working out where clutch disengages . Some pics just showing clearance with out any mods on the inside of gearbox and adjusatble pivot pin which hopefully will not need to reset .
All this is nothing new as I had to do this with the small AP unit first time around .
Anyone interested in my old flywheel and ap unit send me a pm . Very cheap :D

Been waiting for my clutch alignment tool to arrive as my home made socket type had little to much play . So finally it did arrive this brilliant nylon alignment tool . It's absolutely perfect . Had to import it from states but it was only few dollars . If I was in SA I would have just cut up one of my scrap bmw boxes for the input shaft ... But I'm not there . Pics attached .
So waited for temperature to rise from a low -6 degrees and rain to stop , borrowed a torque wrench for flywheel bolts and realised the torque wrench is 100mm to long or the car is 100mm to low . ( jack way past it's jacking height ) Had to laugh :D so work will continue after I go buy a correct torque wrench for driveway jobs
Torque wrench in red box on floor next to car .

The weather has finally got a bit warmer ( a mighty 8 degrees) and the rain has stopped for a week so it was good opportunity to pull engine out and attach gearbox . It's actually much easier to do this than put box in from underneath . Also I could see perfectly the new clutch and fork position through the viewing hole I made on the side of the gearbox . Took three hours it's to of us to take engine out and put engine back in with gearbox attached . Next weekend work will continue . Some pics of new unit on engine .

Cheers thanks , gotta make a plan . Got it all bolted together about half hour ago before it started to drizzle which is forecast for entire weekend . Clutch works beautifully and much more user friendly ( obviously) than the tiny race Ap unit . Pretty happy about that . Will have to do some videos some time . Next mods are on gear linkage and throw are already in pipe line . Had to cross over to dark side and read up what they do on the BMW forum . Good thing is huge improvements can be made by buying gear lever from the MZ4 which has the ball much higher up ie more throw .
Was driving Alex s 3.5 12v Gtv few weeks ago . With his quick shift mod his car gear change actually feels better than my zf e36 box upfront . Transaxles with good set up are really good when all play is removed and you have the quick shift .

Kevin, is it possible to get a run down of his mods?
Will he modify the parts and send if I can get them to him?
I'Ve always been intrigued by the mods he does to them.

I had planned to use a hydraulic press to push the pivot further up the shaft and rebuild the shift linkage with the performatek kit (already purchased).
Fixing it bit by bit....

Hi Jules , I measured up the Gtv 3.0 bonnet which I will post on other thread . Took the car out today for a few test laps in rural country today - what fun . Got my wet weather rainsports 3 on for road and wet weather . Back to your question , Do you have a standard Gear linkage on your Gtv or the 75 linkage ?
When next do you fly to UK as I'm sure you can get one from Alex ?
