Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff

So this is my last brake design upgrade. The best part is I can tell the manufacturer (Renaldo) here exactly what I want when I show him old version and what I need from new set up. These brake kits here are so well priced and are track proven by the top V8 series that use them . Previuosly i used a 305mm GTA disc with 21mm thich Performance Friction Pads. This set up needed a 10mm spacer to work on the 15'' compomotive spilt rim which has more space in the curve than a cast 15'' rim . So plan now was to use a 295mm disc, custom bells with pressed studs, 17mm thick Performance Friction pads and move disc back anothe 2mm. Th e thinner pad which is a standard size brings the caliper in 4mm. So far all good but I need to change bleed nipples to top as its upside down. Also you need to take 2mm off the side of the stub axle incase of spindle flex.

Started to fit trim but realised my headlights were useless. As I had some spare new lights from a Sud which were the same diameter I decided to cut up my old lights so I could use its clip layout . In the pic there also a generic light you can buy which is same diameter. The Old cut out piece is the epoxied to the new lense .
We do have some races that are at sunset and need good lights but most importantly this track car is also street legal.

Pedal box is same as white 3.7 . Its gonna need some more adjustments to bring the break pedal closer to the accelerator.
Got some new momo pedals , not everyones cup of tea. As before I used a clutch pedal for the brake pedal with a section welded to house a rod end . This is a safe set up and brake pin cant come out as the steering column brake switch bracket prevents this.
Im using the Fiat uno clutch master as i can get a bottle for the standard GTV master . Its pretty similiar in dimesions. I will run external Bike bottle for reservoir

Just been finishing off some final suspension settings. See the rear offset on the bottom of the shock. This is done to stop stop the CV boot rubbing against the shock . RS normally run other way (less unsprung weight) but they dont have a cover to protect shaft. This is not necessary for track use but atlleast it does not chafe against the CV boot.

Started going through harness to install and found it had been melted due to reverse switch wire that must have shorted against each other. Had to strip open and remove the pink wire. As gearbox is upfront , I will reconect when I find new point on the BMW box . Also the front of the harness had been cut into for immobiliser as in pic and had to rejoin . This time waster was not planned for . Cost half the day . :x

It was getting pretty difficult working outside with intermittent rain and bugs crawling in your pants so as I am housesitting for the owners who have gone on holiday for two weeks .I decided to tow my car into his garage . I had to pack my tool boxes . Note bench grinders are called bench grinders for a reason as they tend to do doughnuts on the paving when you switch them on.
Owner is a merc fan so Im sure he wont read this forum.

With lights in ''new workshop" got both seats in . They come from a 911 porker . The owner was getting to podgy so I offered cheap price for seats . Great bargain as these are super lightweight. Must just make sure I dont have to trade them in :!:
Got some nice badges to stitch over porker emblem . But thats for later.
Put dash in but its REAL bad . Dont really want to add any weight to fix it so it will stay unless i can get some wrap that will adhere >

Progress has been slow due to unforseen work on my Moms 156 which split its power steering pipe on New years eve at guests house . Spent more time cleaning up . aaarrgghhh.
Anyway back to GTV . Started putting fiberglass bumpers on . These need brackets to be fitted on . I also cut holes for oil cooler . Must say it was good plan to have these moulds made back then as it becomes so easy to make a "light" weight racer .

As car was a shell had to start installing all beading again . I had to buy window rubber trim as it makes it simpler to install windows as then you only need to screw in bottom section . i had to remove passenger seat again as their is no acces into car . This part became two man job so had to get my dad to come hold the windows on outside while i attacked the beading with the drill :D
