I thought we could maybe have a thread for videos of Alfa Romeo racecars driven in anger (or practice).
Earlier this year I made a video during our national Alfa Club race at Knutstorp, many of you might have seen it already but I'll post the link anyway. This Saturday the scene was Mantorp and it was the final race of the season, the video camera was in place and as a bounus a fellow Alfisti had set up a camera at the chikane so we have outside footage too. Very cool. :D
As a side note: I have finally used fifth gear in a race! :D The new gearbox is fantastic, well worth all the hazzle in setting up.

Please feel free to add your own video but keep it to Alfa Romeo racecars driven at a racetrack.

 i like it very much ... what gearbox and what modifications u did ? yours gtv is same as mine(restoring) and diff ratio 4,1:1 is not the best ratio for stock power 2,0 carb engine ...
can u please give us some more details for mobergs gtv its looks and run insane  (as i know TS carb + stright cut box)

I now use a 4.3:1 diff ratio with LSD, not easy to set up and involves a whole lot of thinking and heavy machinery.

Johan has as you said a very good engine, TS with carbs, special pistons, camshafts and all that, puts out just over 200Hp. Not exactly 100% about the box but it may be an old Group A box, but as I said, I don't know for certain. coil-overs, 17x9 ETCC rims with Kumho 235 tires and so on. fast. ;)

What tires are you running Mats? Are they getting greasy...

I have driven at Mantorp some 15 years ago and I recall the curve to the main straight after the chicane being worse with a steel fence or something. Did it change or is my memory like usual?

BTW, i'll check the possibility to come over to do a race in Sweden this summer. I hope it is allowed even if my car doesn't have the local approval.

Should be alright, EU you know. :)

My tires are Yoko 032R. They look slippery but the car is just setup loose, I'm looking to change that this winter, not very comfort inspiring in the fast corners as you can see. The tires are actually pretty grippy.

The chikane was build some years ago, before that the turn entered the straight much earlier, this was not very good for the dragracing guys because the race rubber on the track destroyed the grip for them, go figure...

Another couple of videos, this time from GellerĂ¥sen in Karlskoga (Swe).
Two races an hour apart instead of just one race like we have done it earlier, much better now. :D

Me driving the GTV, watch for the rookie mistake in the first video...

Race 2 [64Mb]

Feel free to ask questions about the cars or anything else. Feedback is always welcome.

My mirror was a little bit less crowded...
Every time I see my own videos I realize half of the action is lost because you can't see what is going on behind me. I have been thinking about setting up a rear view mirror for the camera though, maybe I should try that. 8)

For instance, in the first race there was a spectacular crash just behind me in turn one and that's why it was only 6 laps long, I saw it in the rear view and it was a bit of a chock...

I hope this works1

This be me

Another race this weekend, Knutstorp Sweden.
Camera battery went flat on the warm-up lap of race 1 so no footage. :x

on that very first clip is that your hood im seeing bounce around....great footage but id mount the camera up higher a lil bit for increased viewable footage but thats just my opinion lol..with the cam a lil higher a rear view mirror for it wouldnt be all that hard i dont think...but in its current position i doubt you would see much behind it lol

The camera position is ~20cm higher then my eyes and if I mount it higher I will probably only see the inside of the roof of the car, pretty boring.
I have actually tought about moving it down/left a little to get it centered in the car and get a better "windscreen only" view, with the current position I have a lot of wasted area that show the headlining and instrument panel. The sensation of speed would be better with the cam a bit forward too I think.
