With the oldest GTV6 nearing 40 years in service, a forum to document projects and restoration seems sensible.

Thought I'd drop by here and see how you bunch of relic-hunters and gravediggers are doing. Sad to see a certain Ozzie varmint is still polluting this world's atmosphere. Of all the poisonous animals in Oz, and none dares to get too close to him....phew man, get a f. bath!
Seeing how Kevin is redoing his electric stuff, why don't you look into getting some electric pants Ozzie? When your -o, so frequent- urge comes just punch the big red button to jettison the diaper! That way you won't have to walk around bow-legged with half your brains hangin' under ya, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!    :wall:

Ah, finally you found other uses for your fingers other than picking your nose. Nice to see you in the neighbourhood. I see your senility has depleted your technical contributions down to a couple of dribbling derogations of the finest country on earth yet again. No doubt your visa application was declined for the 9th time due to medical examinations revealing a vacuum between your ears. I warned you many times before of the hazards of syphoning petrol by using a rubber hose and now look at the consequences. Get help now before it is way too late and not even Zeefa would give you an apprenticeship.
Keep Greece safe-stay off the streets. Get your straight jacket laundered once in a while to give your fleas a fighting chance :D

I have to thank you for the nice words... I sure get a chuckle thinking of you wanting to be an 'organ donor' when you finally croak (hallelujah, praise the Lord!). Which part of you exactly are you going to donate, HAHAHAHAH! The ones above the waist are all suitable for low-grade fertilizer and the ones below ...well they can only be used to test the magnification power of electron-microscopes! You really are a scientific paradox... As for 'the finest country on earth' I have to wonder, as they let the likes of YOU in..., what can be fine about that? You sure you weren't admitted under a military program to study the effects of radioactivity on certified brain-dead specimens? I must admit you have greatly improved though -at the expense of your host country- learning to walk upright must've been a sensational experience for you and a regrettable loss for the local circus!  :wall:
Reeegardzzz!
Cars? What about them? I'm all into 24v engines doing all kinds of interesting shit but this would belong to car sites or fb cronies!

Well that bit of poetry should keep the mob entertained to at least morning coffee. Let's face it we all need an intermission break.
Enjoy your day birdbrains.

Carry on Kevin...

Damn this has kept me chuckling well into my third coffee break !
Good to see Jim has dragged himself off the beach and possibly could surprise us with some more info soon on the 24v space project.

I'm not sure where this gold colour entered my head . Maybe it was from living in Johannesburg for most of my life surrounded by industry dedicated to gold mining.
Just hope Jim and MD don't get any golden ideas.

I have just finished replacing all the bolts on my FX compomotives and was about to put them on the car when my Revo's finally came back from refurbishment. So it was load up all the wheels and swap the tyres around .... again !
The gold is not as dark that most people go for ( not like MD's surfboard ) ! Code is Ford Arizona gold :wall:

Now that I have enough gold I have refitted the stainless steel exhaust system that the previous owner had fitted a couple of years ago. Basically two boxes on 63mm pipe and all boxes are free flow . ( no compartments ) . No drone on this.
Interesting the way it's routed around caliper for more clearance. Note the flanges are not stainless. Quite silly ! But that's even the case on the CSC as well !

Thanks Alfaaa1, it's nearly there. Just waiting for weekend to do some test drives and then do nut and bolt check.
I got some new doors seals to put on but I need a wider space to open the car doors properly.

Post some pics of you GTV with those Simmons wheels. Like to see an update. Keeps me motivated :D :D

Hi Kev,
Photo shows the wheels below.
I am going to paint the Alfetta in a month or so time when weather gets warmer.

Once the car is 130 Alfa red the wheels will look great and I will post some photos.

I still need to lower the rear 50 mm.
I am aiming to finish my project in about 6 months time if all goes well and I have time. :D

These do take time especially when you also doing engine conversion. 130 red is great colour ( my opinion ) !

Did some test driving today on private back roads in Surrey Hills as still need to do MOT hence SA plates still on. Took a few as there was a good sunset. I need to find some decent 63mm wheel centre caps .

Once I got the car out its parking space I could open up the doors and change the door rubbers. Door Rubbers supplied by Highwood Alfa are really good quality. They don't have the felt on it however. The doors still close nicely but you still need to let them settle ( or mould ) in position.
The stainless trim strips got a polish at same time.
Some pics of the old rubbers along with the new ones fitted.

Feels a bit sad the project is at its end or nearly end. I'm loving the steering wheel position and set up mods with gear-lever as well. Just so comfortable to do some " aggressive " touring :)
I did a rebleed of brakes today and rear brake adjustment. So I totally slacked off hand brake then adjusted all four adjusters always reminding myself there are three anti clockwise adjusters and one clockwise adjuster to tighten up. The clockwise adjuster is the left caliper that takes the 7mm socket. I have seen problems occurs in the past when people ( not me :D ) excessively adjust in the wrong direction and destroy the O ring inside ..... And then starts leaking.
I had to borrow Georges ( owner black 75 race car) home made 17mm socket with small lever to tighten up the lock nuts on the outer adjusters. These locking nuts follow convention thread direction to tighten.
Some pics in the muddy conditions in my road . All that lovely red paint a has now mud on it :):): I searched everywhere but for revo plastic centre caps and found none available so i used my spare set of compomotive wheel caps. I think I prefer them .
The pic shows car on slope which exaggerates the ride height ( gap under front wheel arch )
Attached is also a pic of two essential tools for working on the rear . Firstly the modified 17mm caliper tool as mentioned above and secondly the only tool to use on the drive shaft hub bolts. These bolts are usually so tight that the usual 12 sided spanner tends to round sides of the bolts so a six sided Snappon spanner solves that problem.

Champagne time ! The car went through MOT with no advisories or any issues. It was slightly on lean side due to fact it's from high altitude. ( Pretoria/ Johannesburg) .
I think I have got over the fact the underside won't remain sparkling and now I can get on an use it. It's rained so much lately that the idea of avoiding any mud has gone out the windows. But one things for sure its not going out when they salt the roads!
The process now is I submit my MOT and customs clearance certs from HMRC to DVLA and apply for my first registration papers.
.... Ans send more money again .. :(
Costs to register first time in UK is £55, then 6 months road tax which is another £145 plus you need insurance obviously as you can't drive car on road and that's another £250. Out of interest for those not familiar I had to get one off VIN number insurance to drive the car to MOT. You can get a month insurance but that's still £145.
Now to put some miles on and drive to aircon specialist to regas !
