Phew! Rear brake job not so bad.

Post by Typhoon90 »

Well, dodged a bullet on the rear brakes, less than three hours to get the calipers and rotors out. Only had to cut the head off one bolt out of the 24 axle/disc flange bolts.
The correct tools for the job helped too, I don't know how you could loosen these bolts without an allen drive socket and 24" breaker bar. The right socket was a nice snug fit, apply smooth pressure to the breaker bar and they cracked right off.:D
I found the clearances under there more than adequate to do everything, it's just a matter of getting yourself in the right position beforehand and rotating the wheel a couple of times to get the bolts in a good position as well.
Oh yeah, also let the De Dion hang at full droop, much more clearance.
I'm so glad this job didn't end up being the horror story some have had!

Does anyone know the diameter and pitch of the thread for the CV joint to axle flange bolts off hand?
Looks like a 0.75?
