GTA engine project

Post by ingegnere »

A friend of mine bought a 147 GTA engine that we'd like to build in a GTV6. Do you guys have experience in fitting a GTA engine in a 116 car? What should be taken care of?

I've never done 24V conversation, so some online help would be appreciated. :)

Assuming that engine mounts, and flywheel fits quite straightforward, is this true regarding to oil sump as well?
-Will the sump fit with the GTA oil pump? If not can the oil pump be changed to a 75 type one?

-Shall the water pumpő be changed to a GTV one? Is yes, what about the front pulley?

-Intake plenum is planned to be kept in that assymetrical form, with the necessary welding for throttle body. But what about electrical accelerator? Can it cope with the original accelerator lever?

Just a few questions to start the discussion. Hope I will get some answers, and I can inform you soon about our results.
Thanks in advance!

Oil pump,No.
Std oil pump,No
Waterpump,No

Use your std gta oil pump with a custom made sump .
Use the gta waterpump with the poly v belt and adapt your alternator to use the same belt.
French cars are shit and shit expensive to service and bloody awful and unreliable and expensive and friends don't let friends drive french cars and you wait years for parts.

You will also need the 4mm spacer on the rear of the crank.

Thanks Barry!

Does custom made mean a whole new sump or modifying the GTV sump is possible?

Unfortunately it means a complete new sump. The gtv6 sump is made of magnesium and is very difficult(READ EXPENSIVE AND SCARCE) to modify,I just make a new sump from ally plate. If you have a 164/156/166 sump handy, machine off everything below the flange and use the flange as a base3 to make the new sump.

Sorry guys, but I was very busy last week.

Engine project is on it's way.
The GTA sump, and the intake plenum was modified to fit in the GTV engine bay, and the GTA flywheel is going to be used with an intermadiadte unit to fit the Hardy.
I'll post pictures, I promise! :-)

Interesting project! How did you modify the intake plenum? Pictures?

I´m putting a 3.0QV from a 164 into my GTV6, maybe we run it to some of the same problems.

This is how I did mine. The cold air intake comes from the back of the headlights/inside front guard.

(Resising my photo has turned out fairly poxy I must say)

If any one needs a clearer image, just mail me and I will send you a larger and clearer image.

I wouldn´t mind a larger picture. Please e-mail me on, sebasian.stein@bj-konsult.se.

Did you open the side of the plenum and put the air intake there? Looks like it. I´ve been thinking about doing that too.
