After seeing this video I'm really motivated to get one of those young timers. You guys know what I'm talking about, quite obvious being an Alfa forum an all....

an E30 M3

Seriously, it would actually be a good "investment" (well as far as car goes). Not sure the 75 would like sharing a garage with it though.

Nope! It was the tailshaft! :o

I was told later that I could have put my foot on the clutch to stop the tailshaft spinning, but at the point in time, I didn't know what was broken, there were lots of strange sounds coming from where my foot was (thought the flywheel was coming thru the floor!!), so I didn't put my feet anywhere near the pedals!

Nicee, I thought by the sound a guibo let go, certainly was about to though, never seen a propshaft go like that on a 116, thought that probably any of the guibo's would give up first...

Happened to a guy in my garage, twice!
Root cause was traced back to the engine mounts. Talking about badly designed..? :?

No, not stock parts. "Machine feet" vibration dampers for heavy equipments = useless at taking anything else then compressing loads.

Scary, pictures of severed limbs comes to mind. I wonder if another layer of sheet metal around the driver's leg are in the transmission tunnel would be of help, safety wise.

A dragracing type propshaft ring would be better I think.

I recall from a few years ago, one of the guys on a track day had some horrific, leg injuries from an Alfa driveshaft. I just found details, the link is new to me.
