Balanced it myself. Yes i'm cocky
Placed it in an air bearing with the original shaft inside. These air bearings have almost no friction. When i was done it didn't move .
It should be a lot better than the old situation witch had a light vibration. When was finished i put it an an cnc machine and spinned it up to 4000rpm. It was oke but i got scared to do it till 7000. If such big clumb of material goes it's a chain reaction... it will fly through the workshop. And with in mind if whe damage machines for our hobby , whe have to pay it ourselves. Fair for sure!

I guess it is oke.

Yeah, I would much rather have it tear through floor and bounce around the cabin then damaging something in a workshop...;)

Mats has a point..

However, i happen to know where Peter works and i can imagine the huge costs involved if something gets damaged in that workshop. It's not the typical local garage workshop he uses.

Did you lighten the flywheel as well? Did you replace the bearings in the snout of the flywheel housing ( i can probably get you those cheap  )?

bearings i can get myselve over here but thanks for the offer!

Didn't lighten the flywheel at the end. My thoughts where if i lightend it, shockloads from the engine increase on the gearbox internals. And i'm already ballancing on the border i guess.

I work at a University in a kind of prototype centre. Lots of knowlege over here. If i blew up the machine, cost easily go up to 1.000 euros or more... and a bad reputation

Ah, oke nice. Probely a lot cheaper then our suplyer  .
But i already had a look at the clutch bearings, they make no noise and run really smooth. Also put the joke in a vice and checked the play. Felt really firm an saw nothing.

This weekend i bought an other gearbox for refurbishing. There was a bad reverse in my own ( lot's of teeth wear). Synchro of first was bad and there was a lot of play in the bearings in the gears. It was realy in poor condition. Wonder why it still didn't blew up

So gonna make the best of two.

Biesheuvel Techniek (geen autosport helaas.. :( ) heet de tent.

@75Evo;

wheelbearings are automotive bearings and i'm more in the industrial branch.

But if you cab get me the articlecode from SKF i can inquire at SKF about what is possible.

On page 6 the discussion was around gearbox and prop modifications linked to a company that supplied these parts http://www.artracing.co.uk/parts-and-services/
I saw track car that was in for and underbody service etc which had this kit on . Its runs a 24v motor and get pretty much thrashed . Thought I would add it here to keep the thread discussion .
The interesting part on the prop which has three u/j , is the rubber filled dampening section of the prop which I believe or has been mentioned already comes off an Aston. I did try twisist by hand and you can feel the feedback from rubber .( fractionally ) Its the smaller tube thats rubber moulded into the larger tube .
See the pics which include the reinforced clutch housing .

Looks like a very nice solution but expensive.. Keep it in mind.

Does anyone has experience with welding on the clutchhouse. Can it be welded?
Maybe i can reïforce the original just to play safe. That's a small job compered to the cage construction and a littlebit stiffer becuase there's no play. I know aluminium gets soft when it is welded. But it's a self healing material. Afther a few month it's in the old state again. So after the winter over here :D

Kevin also uses a nice solution for reinforcing the housing... the steel cage that fixes the snout of the housing with the mountingpoints to the gearbox, like a steel spiderweb. 8)
