Fuel system not self priming?

Post by Typhoon90 »

That's an odd one for me! I replaced the fuel filter on the 90, same layout as the GTV's. Pump just wouldn't prime until I cracked the line off the cold start injector and jumped the pump with ignition on.
Never had that happen in any car I've owned before, they usually gravity bleed pretty much instantly.

Regards, Andrew.

I know this isn't exactly helping you, but the same thing happened to me with a 90 I picked up for parts a month or so ago.
This was also after a fuel filter change. Seems to have been intermittent, as all we did was check and fix somewhat loose connections etc. It still wouldn't prime of its own accord, so jumping it was the only solution. After that, everything seemed ok but I'm not convinced as it doesn't get regular use.

I didn't need to muck around with the cold start injector, however.
