Flooding caused by injectors sticking open on cold start

Post by zambon »

My 12v 3.0 is flooding on cold starts. The injectors seem to be stuck open, but the problem is intermittent. I pulled the plenum and pressurized the system by holding the AFM open and it sounded like all cylinders were spraying fuel wide open. I took the fuel rail out and the problem stopped. I turned the engine over by hand and the injectors fired normally.
Does anyone have advice on diagnosing the cause of this problem?

Sounds like an ECU problem. They do go bad, I had one go bad when the Milano was only 10 years old. Do you have a spare ecu to test? Or is the TPS somehow signalling a WOT condition?

Hey 75evo
Thank you for the reply. I put in a 2.5l ecu and the car started right up. I can’t remember what the differences between a 2.5 and 3.0 ecu are, but I’m happy that she is running again.
