This is a general response regarding my connection with speedo fixing solutions refered to by Dennis above.

For the configurations being used by Dennis and myself, the credit for coming up with the concept belongs to a friend of mine, Daniel Kirk, who is also using the same setup. There is a long story to go with all this but at the end of the day, the credit must go to Daniel.

Here is the painful bit. The solution comprises a two part component. One part made by me and the other part made by VDO. THe kit works with a three wire jaeger sender that has the colours, black, grey, and pink & black. The painful part is that this is now a commercial product and therefore I cannot tell you more about it other than that it works.

I don't want to be accused of hyjacking this forum for commercial purposes and so I will not mention anymore about it. If anyone does want to persue this matter with me on a one to one level, please send me an email and I will inform you of the kit details and costs.

Incidentally, the old site has no less than 14 pages devoted to this topic alone. It is a real chestnut topic. There are many solutions also discussed within these pages which you may care to examine.

does any one have a late modle GTV6

i dont know what the deal is, but my old gearbox had the same sender as the 75 3L box.

my speedo worked untill one day.
i know early gtv6 have diffrent senders but was is the change diffrence?

is the speedo the same unit? i know mine has a low brake pad light.

does the later gtv6 have a amp box like the 75?

excuse the french but that wiring vanises up the shit some where i couldnt easily trace it.

can anybody explain in detail the workings of the alfa speedo system.

GTV6GPTT: I have a GTV6 GP '87 (built in sept 1986) with an original speedo and a gearbox and amp from a Milano.
My car had no amp box with the original gearbox. It used the 3-wire non amplified type.


Jonas: I did some research prior to fixing my speedo last year. Some info is from the old forum and the rest are my own conclusions.
I hope that this will help.

Speedo from a GTV 86-87
Milano sender and Milano speedo amp.


Connect everything as on the attached picture

It's Passagens fault, they don't like external links to their pics...

so you are saying the sender on the later gtv6 has no amp module unlike the milano, im gussing the sender is the same?

now i must track down a late model speedo to test which is wrong.

any info on the wave created ? for testing?

I was under my car the other day doing something else and found something very interesting. An electric installation in the area just beneath the back seat, definitly not stock! Despite what the former owner said to me when I contacted him in this matter, some attempt must have been made to get a working speedo. I'm sure! I will go down under again today to figure out what's in there. If I'm lucky, all things needed except for a late speedo is already there........ Wishful thinking

GTV6GPTT: The late GTV6 uses a sender without an amplifier. The sender is not the same as on a Milano which requires an amplifier.

To test the system on a late GTV6, do like this:

Test pink wire to speedometer for 12v with key on.
Test pink-black wire from speedometer for 12v going to sender.
Test gray wire (brown on Milano) from sender to white-red wire with a diode test lamp for blinking light with rear of car on jack stands and engine running and in 3rd or 4th gear. Voltage I suppose would be about 5-10v. The best would be to test it with a scope...

Jonas: What colors does the cables from the sender have? Give me a call if you run in to problems!

I have now investigated the things I found beneath the car the other day. It is an electric installation beyond belief. There are a couple of cables attached for some reason, but no ampifier! (must be an early attempt to fix this nowadays common problem) I will follow Guran's description and hope for the best. His solution makes scense to me, but he is also the only one that I've actually have read about that has a working speedo with this particular items mounted. I also saw his working speedo live when I got the opportunity to drive his beautiful car, so I now it's working!! . Keep going strong out there, and I'll come back to you with more info as soon as I got anything to report.
