75 racing in Sweden

Post by 75evo »

Fantastic driving here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4x7kEcY_w8

I'm not sure if the red 75 behind the camera car is still an NA 3.0 12V. But if it is, it's pretty fantastic to pass a supercharged car! I think the driver is Niclas R.. His car has wide fenders now. IMHO he and his car are extremely fast. If he went to Zandvoort or Assen for the European Alfa Challenge he would get the overall win (unless the 155 Touring car shows up). I wanted to say Spa, but his car might not have enough power to compete against the 3.2 cars on the long straights.

As long as we are analyzing, I have a few points, but first, this is what Hans (driver of the supercharged car) posted elsewhere about this race:

"Race 2 reverse order and I was starting at 6th place..

Traffic high and low... but the power..

after some lap I was in top ...but

The old man used the old prakepoint at 220 km/h It wasen´t good

Lost 10 sec. and have to chase mr Rosengren..once more

I was 0.1 sec after at checker flag..

It was a very nice day..."

I have a few other comments. Hans' car seems to have a lot more power as evident at 2:44 and various other sections of this video. His car is passed around 6:09, but at about 7:00 Hans spins out (probably trying to pass) and loses the ten seconds he mentions.

Then Hans drives like a man possessed, thundering past everybody except the other Milano which he almost catches! It's a very exciting race and all these guys drive a lot better than I do, but Hans car is still the most powerful on the track, at least until Mats gets his turbo monster going.

I also was to add that Hans just recently got his car going with the new Lysholm type supercharger. I calculate this supercharger is capable of delivering over 500 horsepower. He doesn't have it set up that way right now, but as he beefs up the driveline, who knows...

Greg,

I think the race Hans was describing about was an older race. This race was more recent. There was even a 164 2.0T there, which seemed to keep the very fast green Alfetta GTV Turbo in check.

Definitely not saying Hans is slow he is an excellent driver, but Niclas is a pretty amazing driver!

On a track with slightly longer straights, Hans would have pretty much won the race.

That white 164 must have 24v engine to move that lump so quickly down the straight . Unless its. High boost 2.0 .
Great bunch of cars that race .

The way it handles, looks more like a 4-cyl up front. I could be wrong though. Ask the Swede here, he knows everything

#66 - Hans Bjurman 75 V6 2.8 Supercharged (Sold to Norway a week ago!)
#9 - Niclas Rosengren 75 V6 3.0 12v
#72 - Jens Roos GTV V6 3.0 12v (used to be Turbo TS)
#?? - Micha Forsgren 164 2.0 Turbo (Lampredi 8v engine, existed in 164 first year)

Hans is now building a new car, a Giulietta Sprint. Seems to plan a 1750 engine with a small IHI Supercharger from a Mazda. Right now ot seems it might not become a racer... :(

I really don't think so. The quote I posted from Hans was taken from a post on another forum. That quote and that video are in the exact same post. Plus the description of the off track event matches, and it's the only video I have seen from Hans where that happens.

Thanks for that update Mats. Pretty interesting stuff. I wonder why Hans decided to switch to another car. He just got the new supercharger on his V6 recently.

I was quite impressed with the 164.

Greg,

I think Hans posted here:

http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/engine- ... ost1256232

That was in May.

The race I posted was just 2 weeks ago in early to mid Sept.

Hey, it looks like you are right. I guess after watching his 26 videos, all with basically the same group of cars chasing each other around the track I got them mixed up. It's strange that the video you posted fits the narrative Hans put up.

Hans car is still faster though :)

Well this is where Hans' car is now, in the Corsa Italiana series. I think the new owner also competes in the CARS challenge. BTW, this car demolishes the Norwegian 75 3.0 24V with ITB cams etc and 280 whp.

The new owner should really try bringing this car to Spa at least once in it's racing life.

I have this crazy idea/dream that when my 3.2 is ready I would like to bring my Milano to Spa. I need to get a racing license and figure out shipping to Europe.... once in a life time thing.

I am curious what Hans reasoning was for selling. Is he getting out of racing? I don't communicate very much with Hans or know him well, but he did buy a book, an intercooler, pulley and some other stuff from me, so I feel connected to this car in a small way.

I hope the new owner continues to develop the car. It has a lot of potential. I like the fact that he mounts the camera facing forward.

Hans was also in that race, he borrowed the new owners old 75. Jens was also there with the GTV and raised some hell. :)

I guess Hans had the camera mounted backwards because that's where he expected the action to take place. 8)

The more I think about this, the more I want to do it! :D

I need to look into how and when, to race at Spa is on my bucket list.

Edit: But looking at the rules I'm having doubts, I'm not allowed to fit a turbo to a car that originally didn't have one and I will have to add 140Kg's of weight... :|
So my Alfetta GTV can't have a turbo but a 75 can, basically the same car but a different look. Very strange.
