Re: No longer a ''budget" race GTV
At schools in the US, I sometimes tell people to use weight transfer to start the slide...do a flick and abruptly lift the throttle to break the rear loose while turning in. The funny thing is, I learned this because at some point I realized that I can't clutch-kick or pull the e brake on a 75...I'd...

Re: No longer a ''budget" race GTV
Yes, but do you also not see any merit in being VERY comfortable with oversteer? I dunno, I feel that it has helped me tremendously at time trials by being able to to be comfortable taking the car to the limit at high speeds. Losing the tail at 90+ mph still makes me feel pucker though  dorif...

Re: No longer a ''budget" race GTV
I recommend going to a drifting school to a lot of racers looking to improve their confidence and lap times. Yet no one seems to take the advice seriously for some reason. To me, it's perfectly logical - some of the worst accidents are from oversteering, and then over correcting/not timing the corre...

Re: Motec on GTV6
I have to agree with Mats a bit here. My daily driver is using VEMS, which was an offshoot of MS in the early days. My friend (on this BB too) developed the circuit board for VEMS after Al Bowling refused to do ignition, or sequential injection. Enter VEMS. Although it is technically commercial now,...

Re: Motec on GTV6
Actually, buying a Gotech from JJ would probably be a good idea. I'm sure he'll give you all of the support you could ever want. But yes, the cams would make this modification much more worthwhile. And by the way, you don't need an Alfa mechanic to diagnose the Bosch L-Jet. Any 80's BMW mechanic or ...

Re: Motec on GTV6
I don't think it is worth it at all unless you are going with some big cams or forced induction. Motec, with a proper trigger wheel, will give you a much smoother running engine but I don't know if it's worth the 1800 euro price for the unit or whatever it goes for.

Re: Offset Question
I have 300ZX (Z32) non turbo wheels on my Milano...16x7.5 +45 with a 20mm adapter = 25 offset. The rear is completely fine, but with 225/45/16 tires, I can't even come close to doing full lock in the front...wouldn't be a problem if the wheel well was larger. If I had a much smaller outer wheel diam...

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
Nice Zamani, I didn't know you were knowledgeable about 4 cylinders too. Is the 60-2 setup on the flywheel or the crankshaft pulley? Something else? The hardest part about the spica intake manifold will be fitting injectors on it I think. Which is what made me wonder about adapting parts from a late...

Re: Excesive fuel consumption on GTV 6
While I agree a functioning O2 sensor is critical for the best mileage, other countries received versions of the ECU that don't have an O2 feed back at all.
He would have to source the ECU and likely the wiring harness from another car to have an O2 sensor working.

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
Thanks for the advice Mats. I meant to say that I'm wondering how I will get the trigger set up to work with the older Spica engine. I don't know anything about spiders so I don't know how the L-jet of Motronic 2 liters sync the ECU with the engine. Slyalfa tells me I might be able to remove a tooth...

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
Sorry for the delayed response. I was concerned about the head gasket being weak on the 2 liter when compared to the 1.8 liter. Cams would be the stock, lame-o spica cams, or maybe a hotter intake came from IAP. EFI would likely be VEMS. I'm still trying to figure out what to do about ignition timin...

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
Here's a question for you guys: With 9:1 compression on stock pistons, how much of a risk am I of blowing head gaskets with a low boost turbo setup on a stock 2.0? I'm not very familiar with 4 Cylinder alfas and I forgot that 2 liters have more trouble keeping head gaskets in place on a stock, non-t...

Very jealous of your 155 too. If we had 155's here I would be using that as a daily driver. I'm using a stock 164LS 24V right now and it eats gas at a rapid rate.
