Well I applied 12VDC to the sensor and capacitivly coupled the + terminal to measure the output. Rotating the spindle with a drill, I get a sinusodal output of approximately 70 mV Pk-PK, which to me is somewhat low. The polarity is marked inside where the contacts are right on the plastic insulation housing.

Dooh!

Admitidly, it is not easy to see as the housing is white and does not contrast the + and - very well.
