Source for '84 GTV6 Gas Tank & Fuel Injectors

The saga of the no start condition continues. It appears that my gas tank is toast. Crud in the tank has reduced the fuel flow to a trickle and the engine simply will not start because of it. Some of that crud has made it to the fuel injectors and they ought to be replaced as well. I've shopped arou...

Nope, blade wire connections are clean and solid. Still no start. It sounds like I'm having a problem similar to Paul Bird's GTV6 in another thread in this forum. I've got spark and I've got fuel. What controls the strength of the spark in an '84 GTV6? Doea the ballast below the coil have anything t...

Still won't start. Gas tank is clean. New Fuel. Fuel Pump does its job. Fuel filter is new. Fuel is pumped to the engine. Fuel is present at the cold start valve. Installed new spark plugs. Spark plugs have a nice coating of gasoline now after repeated attempted starts... so fuel is making it into t...

:x :x :x Now on to the latest.... The car was parked for two years for a typical second gear synchromesh problem and a stubborn cold start issue. I've replaced a number of things (listed below) and the car still will not start. The starter just cranks and cranks and cranks. There's an occasional huf...

It's off! :D We can all only hope that American Airlines MD-80's are built to such tight tolerances. That little bugger reeeeeally did not want to come off. The trigger wheel came off in pieces. The larger portion of the trigger detached from the collar that fits over the shaft. For reference, there...

Well, here we are a week later, and repeated soakings of KROIL, and the trigger wheel is still stuck. I can't help but think that I've missed something. I'm not ready to remove the distributor yet... no experience with that throughout the ownership of my many cars. Does anyone have a schematic of th...

Not an issue. I used the "cram a screwdriver in the AFM to hold the air door open" trick so that it would trip the switch that makes it think that the car is running. That was mainly to test my old cold start valve and to test the functioning of the fuel pump itself after the long hibernat...

Ah, that explains it! Fortunately the new Ignition pickup came with a new trigger wheel. This was a real head scratcher. I looked at the new trigger wheel, then back at the old one and for the life of me couldn't figure out what was preventing it from coming off. It's really stuck... so much so that...

Distributor removal help

I need to replace the Distributor Ignition Pickup in my distributor and have removed the cap and rotor, as well as the short screw inside the top of the shaft, the plastic 'dust shield' underneath the rotor, and the retaining C-Clip near the top of that shaft that appears to hold everthing securly i...

'84 Black Leather Drivers Seat needed

Subject just about says it all. I'm in need of a drivers seat (or skins) in Black Leather for an '84 GTV6 (Maratona). My passenger and rear seats are excellent. Anyone parting out a GTV6? My black carpet could use replacement as well. Also, what site or shop has the best price on the correct GTV6 ha...

The leather is torn at a seam on one drivers seat bolster and the leather is cracked in another section below the thigh bolster. Both should be easy enough to have an upholstery shop replace once I get the specific "pebble" texture leather that I need. The problem area's are in "panel...

GTV6 Maratona - Austin, TX

Greetings from Austin, My name is Greg and I'm in the midst of the restoration of an '84 GTV6 Maratona. It's in very good shape, but has paint fade issues due to its orginal residence in California. No rust what-so-ever. Second Gear synchro needs attention. Thermo Time Switch issue. Master Cylinder ...
