Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
Thx for the reply guys, Looks like ill just take the crank wheel and sensor and throttle plate from the TS. I'm ditching the distributor arm on the 1.8t. The turbo i'm looking atm is gt2871r and ex manifold will be equal length type. i got intercooler, adaptronic ecu and 630cc injectors already. I'm...

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
Hi, I got an interesting question. What need to be done to internals of the TS engine compared to 1.8t engine to get around 300hp, crank hp, not whp on regular 98 petrol. I got both, and will be buying turbo, ex manifold, got adaptronic ecu, front mount ic. etc. which engine internals/head are more ...

I still need it tho... car runs without it but acceleration is rubbish and i mine just gives crazy readings can't calibrate it anymor...

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
No... thats all ok... i'm not telling anyone what to do with their cars... my question was genuine, how long does motor like that last before any major rebuild... can u use it daily... can i go to work with it... or i must trailer it to track events and consider myself lucky if it lasts 5000km... i'...

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
while the 1.8T goes to 450hp with stock internals I have a simple question... how long does that engine last? i mean its always possible to get insane hp out of any engine... but how reliable would it be... its pointless to have an engine that needs an overhaul every week... 200 km.... simply, what...

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
I cannot find the 33 version from which that bosch number u gave (0237507009) originates... service manuals gives 2 other numbers : 237.540.173 for regular 1.7ie and 237.601.014 for 1.7ie for markets with catalyst converters and emission regulations... the models with hall sensor... LE Jetronic inje...

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
You will have much more advance in low revs and when you boost, the plate locks at the preset value! hmm... so its a advance in the vacuum port... not retard... like in porsche what about this... if the default timing is 8-9* btdc as default... and vacuum port gives an advance to lets say... 1 btdc...

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
Hey, my hall sensor on the dizzy gave up i think... car cranks... has fuel and spark.. but just doesn't start... i have voltage reading of 25-26mV while cranking on the hall... is the hall on the 33 the same? or maybe on the v6 jetronic... Jim K. mentioned it few pages ago but i'm wondering is it th...

Re: WOW..neat conversion
is it so impossible to replace the our gearbox in the transaxle and keep the original design we must go front mounted to go strong?
arent there any tranaxles that can be adapted to 75/gtv for same amount of money it takes to do front mount conversion?

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
NGK is giving u the plug for the regular 1.8ie... 6 is too hot for this engine... original spark plug for it the Golden Lodge 25HL is somewhere in between NGK heat range 7 and 8... some ppl run 7... some ppl prefer 8 in the summer if driven hard... and 7 for shorter trips car usage and regular drivi...

Top Fuel engines have very strict rules about ignition...
u forgot that electronic ignition timing is prohibited in top fuel...
if they could they would go digital...

Re: 550hp+ Alfa 75 Twin Spark Turbo
The distributors are what puzzles me the most... i would think they are greatly inferior to anything modern... and on such engine that demands absolute precession in timing and spark strength... oh well... i guess there are no hard launches or clutch dippings with original drive train and that sort ...

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
Jim K. mentioned something about lowering the head to bump the comp ratio to 8.5:1... for getting good hp from 1.8t...
how much would u need to skim of the head... and is that safe? pistons/valves running into each other or any other unforeseen complication?

Re: 4-cylinder turbo performance
Nope the car has only standard kit in it... no AirCon, no power steering, no abs or sunroof... So only the doors need to be cut out, boot lid looks the same as on my TS... or is it... need to take a second look tomorrow... the bumpers have to go... i'm keeping the gas tank if i don't find smaller ra...
