John,
Thanks for the reply, but what I need to know is how the black metal trim is removed. I don't think the weather strip will come out without removing the trim first.

Window trim removal

How do you remove the black trim pieces from the bottoms of the windows? Each piece of weather stripping has shrunk about one inch which allows water to enter the doors and rear fender panels. I read on the old GTV6.org site that it's possible to heat and stretch the weather stripping, but first it ...

My humble apologies oh Alfa Guru. My car is an 85 with the METRIC SPEEDLINE PHONE DIAL wheels. Actually they don't appear to have been painted, but considering their poor condition at this time, I can't be sure. Hence my original question. Thanks again for your valued input.

The question was, "WHAT WAS THE ORIGINAL FINISH ON THE SPEEDLINE WHEELS?". The second question involved the finish options to recondition the wheels. Thanks for the great feedback.

Speedline Wheels

I want to refinish the Speedline wheels on my car. What was the original finish? Mine have a dull magnesium look to them. I've considered having them media blasted and then applying a clear coat, or painting them with SEM silver wheel coat with a clear coat finish. I guess polishing them would be an...

Brian, Thanks for the input. It's good to know I'm in the "ball park". The car feels so much better with this set up that I really didn't want to change it unless it was too low. Do you have an oil pan guard on your car? Also how did you lower the rear, performance springs, or did you cut ...

Ride Height

I lowered the torsion bars on the gtv6 today and it made an amazing diffrence in the handling and steering. Steering effort is much lighter and center steering is much better. While I had the bars out of the lower control arms, I removed the spacers and cut them down by .25 inches. Now I can have th...

Thanks for the replies. I replaced the belt and checked valve adjustment last Saturday and the engine is running fine. Actually the old belt looked pretty good and the tensioner turned out to be a hydraulic unit which is not leaking at all. I think that I'm going to stay with the hydraulic setup so ...

Timing Belt Tensioner

Greetings, I plan to install a new timing belt on my recently acquired GTV6 this weekend. Previous owner had no knowledge of when it was installed nor whether it has a mechanical or hydraulic tensioner. There are no oil leaks at the front of the motor so assume it's a mechanical tensioner or a non l...

Many thanks. Took the wheel and combination switch off, repositioned the top bearing and rubber dust sleeve and it's solid. at least for now. I suspect there is a washer or spacer missing. but I'm quitting while I'm ahead.

There is a lot of play between the steering shaft and the column, as if there was a bushing or bearing missing. I ordered a Car Disk last night, but I was hoping someone had run across this before. By the way, do you know if Shankle header to downpipe gaskets are available. I have to remove the driv...

Steering Column

Well my newly acquired 85 GTV6 has developed a new problem today. Seems like I fix one thing and another problem pops up. The steering shaft has suddenly becoming loose in the steering column. You can move the steering wheel up and down. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't like this until today. Before I...

Rear exhaust section

Is anyone running a rear pipe without a resonator? I have the pipe without resonator that Centerline sells on my Spider and it sounds ok. Almost too loud, but not bad. I was wondering what that setup would sound like on a GTV6. Since I need a new rear exhaust section I was thinking of having a pipe ...
