Re: "Patches" MD's Final Racing Project

Looking good MD.But why a Rotrex over a sprintex? I thought a positive displacement SC would give better lower end torque. Another thing is, I think this whole alternator deal is overrated, for a race car, if you can charge a lithium battery pack and have it las 3x20 mins sessions at 14v you’re gold...

Re: Driveshaft driven Alternator

G’day Mike, That’s the idea. I’m seriously considering doing this. Need to figure out where to put the alternator. I might even put it in the car itself. We’ll see. Eventually maybe the starter will go back there, and who knows maybe the engine and steering too… https://youtu.be/5aEXIXRcPA8?si=PGuWM...

Re: Race Car for Sale

Fantastic car!

But if I were the buyer I'd ask for a $5 discount for the upside down bumper look.

Re: "Patches" MD's Final Racing Project

Looking good!! Supercharger setup is looking good……But from the photos, the exhaust header angle doesn’t look to be in compliance with the holy book by the Greek pope.

Re: Alfa wins its first TCR race in the USA

Maybe there will be a transaxle renaissance for this dying breed. The 105 cars have all the love. The 116/161 not so much. I guess OKTech and CSR are some good examples of companies supporting these cars, but we have nothing to match the likes of Porsche’s Singer and the likes. As for my barber, I’v...

Re: Alfa wins its first TCR race in the USA

Oh look who is back! :wall:

I think BMW Classic group does this for BMW. But don’t expect that from Alfa, they don’t even support current cars properly.

Re: Alfa wins its first TCR race in the USA

Didn’t realize it was a stock Alfa 1750 with custom headers and an AMG turbo. Impressive to say the least.

While Alfa spends its money on F1 it completely neglects this segment, which is very successful with numerous poles, podiums and wins.

Re: Driveshaft driven Alternator

Duk,

Do you Remember Hans Bjurman had done a transaxle 101 Giulietta with e a starter in the back. I think I should contact him. His son Hugo is racing a 75 24V and is decimating the whole field lol. Fast family,

The engine bay would be very clean if we could do that :D

Driveshaft driven Alternator

G’day,

Has any of you thought about moving the alternator to the clutch housing area? Maybe drive it using a pulley mounted to clutch yoke,.

Re: My rebuild!

Unlike you MD, Jules has this all this figured out already. On the advice of the Greekster he is planning to run an AC ducts into the headlight housing. He can run the headlights until Jesus comes and switches it off himself.

Re: My rebuild!

Sounds good Jules. Interested in the tailshaft. I want a spare and I like a center CV, it should do well with the slight misalignment on most cars.

Re: Coolant dripping

Speaking of coolant, I hope you put anti freeze and your race car engines MD, seeing how chilly it’s been in Queensland.
