CF, etc.
Should we start a new thread about the weight issue? I am really at a loss to explain the discrepancy, my cage is likely not 150kg heavier than yours, are there significant sheet metal differences between the US and European markets, right? Mine started as an '86 GTV6. Back to the question about use...

Any ideas about the cost of these, too?

Wheels
Agreed, there have been some recent additions to available alloy wheels that are priced very competitively. I started with Team Dynamics Diablo wheels, but have recently gone with their Pro Race 1 line. They are 12lbs in 15x7. There are newer wheels from other manufacturers that are lighter, though....

Thanks, guys, sorry for being touchy! Yeow, how did you get the car that light??? I have put carbon fiber fenders, hood and hatch, gutted the doors, aluminum 8 gallon fuel cell (with the optional aluminum top), CF instrument panel, aluminum anything else, and even lost about 10lbs personally. I have...

Strange is right. "Limited prep" was supposed to SAVE money, but what it translates into is 1500 driveshafts, and other expensive development programs. If it wasn't fun, I would not do it, since hitting myself in the head with a hammer would be less painful. If you can figure a way to lega...

Racing
I try to post the results on our website, but there is some lag from time to time. We finished last season second in the SE Division regionals, which was fun, but first would have been better! The car has become faster and faster, though we are still struggling to match the performance of the nation...

Weight
If you go to www.scca.com, and search under "GCR" you will find the SCCA's ruoes. I race in the Production category. I have done all the things that are legal. My current "minimum fuel" weight is 2340, and my allowed minimum is 2300. Believe me when I tell you that reducing the w...

CF driveshaft
Believe me, trying to get the car down to something approaching minimum weight has been a chore. Losing 10lbs by swapping out the driveshaft was a relief, and was actually kind of a bargin. Losing the center donut/center support bearing was an added bonus. When you are attempting to lighten a race c...

CF driveshaft
Oh yes, they can make it for the Milano! Basically, I sent them the ends, and told them how far apart I wanted them, and how I wanted to yokes oriented, and they did the rest. The slip yoke is what makes it so nice, since there is a little wiggle room in the length. Also, it lets you get the rear do...

Driveshaft
Hello- I have been using the CF driveshaft for about a year now, and it has been working well. The primary advantage I see is that it is a lot lighter than the stock setup, and there is no center support bearing to deal with. The motor spools up and down very quickly, and I have the subjective impre...

For what it is worth, I used 50% on a 2.5L V6.

CF driveshaft update
I have used the CF driveshaft for a whole race season with no issues. I had a vibration issue initially, but it was due to a bad front donut. Once replaced, it has been trouble free. I have run it up to 7400 RPM, but I usually shift at about 7000. It is rated for over 700ft/lbs, which I won't be put...

TPS
Hi- It was funny how I decided on a Lumina TPS. I was messing with dis-assembled rheostats, pots, etc., trying to figure out how to shoehorn one into the stock throttle switch housing, when I was suddenly posessed by an urge to see what kind of TPS was on my wife's Lumina (yes, we owned one of those...

TPS
An alternative is to get the TPS from a 95 Chevy Lumina (Wells part number TPS140), around 40 US$ new, or less from a junkyard. If you take apart the stock GTV6 throttle switch, you can use it as a mouning surface for the Lumina one. You wire the Chevy part to the Bosch connector, and it works great...

Fuel rail
Hello- I have made some little "hats" that go between the stock GTV6 fuel rail and modern o-ring injectors. The hats use standard clips to attach to the injectors. The OE snap-ring/rubber grommet setup holds the injectors into the manifold. The hats attach to the fuel rail with short lengt...
