Re: GTV vs 75 DeDion "Triangle"

Thanks guys. Off course there is a difference in the mounting flanges for the axles and wheels, 4lug/5lug and the bolt-size for the axles. Yep, I want to do the swap to get the five stud ;). Seems to be the easiest way after breaking 2 breaker bars trying to get the big 36mm hub nuts off :(. ...

GTV vs 75 DeDion "Triangle"

Hi Guys,

A nice easy one (hopefully). Is there any differences between the "Triangle" (axle + arms up to the front of the transaxle) between a GTV and a 75? Can I swap a 75 "Triangle" into my GTV?

BTW, what is that bit actually called?

Cheers,

Martin

Re: Transaxle help please

Gearset = crown + pinion Speedgears = 1 through 5 + reverse. Yeah, easy. I've always thought of 'gearset' as 1-5+R. Ie, I could buy a close ratio gearset... So I just wanted to check we were on the same page and talking about the final drive gears :) Never tried the old vs new pinion trick but I th...

Re: Transaxle help please

No, the brakes are no better hence the huge thread on the subject on this Forum. Mmmm I guess I'll have to venture into that dark and scary section soon... a) The LSD has no locking power without incoming torque. You really cannot say just by rotating it if it's dead or alive. I guess if you have t...

Re: Transaxle help please

Hi MD, Yeah, I realise that the 3.54 is miles too tall, hence my questions about the crownwheels. From the information I've been able to gather, this box should be identical to a TS box except for the final drive ratio, so If I could sort out a shorter ratio that saves having to buy a TS box :). Hi ...

Transaxle help please

Hi guys, I bought a 2.5L 75 on the weekend for parts. Included in the boot was a transaxle, apparantly from a 3L 75. From reading on various forums, I beleive the 3L 75 transaxle should have the same gear ratios as a TS, 3.54 final drive ratio, and an LSD. I wanted to try and confirm this. I haven't...

Re: Can you remove the rear firewall?

Have you checked your FIA rules before you remove it or do you have another plan to compartmentalise your fuel tank. I did not and have to put a back board in . Bull sh*t as if you roll and split tank the petrol will just come through. We dont have a clause in our rules stating an FIA fuel cell is ...

Re: Can you remove the rear firewall?

Interesting difference of opinions.

I might mock up my cage idea in paint and put it up for you guys to critique... one of the reasons I want to remove the firewall is to get access to tie the cage to the shock towers, not the wheel well.

Thanks mate!

I didn't think it was, but thought it best to check, can never be sure with the ol' Monocoque.

Cheers,

Can you remove the rear firewall?

Hi Guys, Can you remove the rear firewall and rear side brace bits from a GTV? The bits I am talking about are shown in the pic below. The car will be caged with bracing between the shock towers, but I am not sure how structural this piece is. I'm sure I've seen pictures on here of cars with this re...

Re: Hi

First question you should ask is what class you want to race in... then decide what to do to the car from there. Nothing worse than building a car without paying attention to class rules and winding up being classed as a sports sedan and having to race with 600hp tube framed scratch built racers......

Re: Hi

Thanks Guys, I know there is much to be done, the intention was never just to slap a V6 in and go racing. Already started stripping her ready for a cage. But, engine choice will decide a lot of what has to be done. As kevin mentioned, suspension rates will change, I am not sure if I can tie the cage...

FS: GTV Parts

Hi Guys I'm stripping a 1982 GTV for track work, so I have most interior parts for sale. Let me know if you need anything. I'd say the interior was in good condition, but not great. Pics of items on request, there's too many for me to snap everything in advance. Front seats are without rails. If any...
