Re: Prevent 'Kick Back' when the ignition is switched on

Yes, I am running a Gotech Pro with VR6 coil pack. I added the diode set up to my car just this last weekend and it seems to have solved the problem. Took me a while of studying the schematic, but now it all makes sense. I ran the black 12V signal that goes to the starter solenoid into the diode. (t...

Re: Gotech installation on 3.0L GTV6

I installed my new A/F wide band sensor and gauge last night and tried to start tuning my car. I don't think the gauge is working right as it was showing max on the high side (18+) no matter what I did. Eventually I gave up trying that and downloaded a map from the forum list. It was the 156 GTA map...

Re: Prevent 'Kick Back' when the ignition is switched on

I have removed the ignitors that came with the VR6 coil pack, so that isn't what is causing the initial spark. I imagine you can buy a small adjustable delay timer from somewhere like Newark. I'll look around later this week.

Re: Prevent 'Kick Back' when the ignition is switched on

One way around this problem would be to add a small delay for the power to the coil pack. If you had a 2 sec delay after you turn the key to the run position, it would give the starter time to begin rotating the engine before the coils started firing. It's not a perfect solution as you would still h...

Re: Gotech installation on 3.0L GTV6

Hooked up the tach last night to Gotech output and it seems to be working. Thanks for the tip.

btw, what engine set up are you running? I was wondering if you had a map yo might want to share?

Thanks,

Re: Prevent 'Kick Back' when the ignition is switched on

I am running a Gotech Pro and have experienced the same issue. Before my settings were correct, it was leaving a bunch of unburnt fuel in the chambers. Sometimes as soon as I turned the key to ignition, I got a backfire. I don't see how the schematic above will solve the issue, but hey I'm not a EE....

Re: Gotech installation on 3.0L GTV6

Update: I spent some time on the phone with JJ and he walked me through the basics of the system. We found some settings that were pretty out of whack so he helped me get the settings reasonably close. Cranked it over and it started right up! It is running very rough, but it is running! Now I need t...

Re: Gotech installation on 3.0L GTV6

Thanks for all the advice guys. I think I have all the Gotech stuff hooked up right. I was going to attempt to start it for the first time today, but I have something not right with the wiring to my starter and fuel pump. I will get the starter sorted out, however I do have a question about the fuel...

Re: Gotech installation on 3.0L GTV6

Ok, very good. Thanks for clearing that up. I actually tried to contact both JJ and Gotech but didn't get a response from either.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Gotech installation on 3.0L GTV6

Just to be clear, I am talking about the wiring to the fuel injectors. Are you saying it doesn't matter whether the cyl 1 and cyl 6 are reversed?

Thanks,

Gotech installation on 3.0L GTV6

I am finally getting around to installing my Gotech Pro system on my 3.0L GTV6. I say finally as I bought the system two years ago! Unfortunately life sometimes gets in the way of car projects. Details are 3.0L 12V from 164L, S pistons, GTA cams, GTV6 intake and plenum, Ansa headers. I purchased the...

91 164L for sale

With the arrival of our next child, it is now time to sell our 91 164L sedan. The car is silver with anthracite trim and interior. We are the second owner and purchased the car with approximately 70k miles. The car currently has 129k miles on it. At 114k miles, I rebuilt the engine including refurbi...

Thanks for the responses. JungleJustice - I will email you more details off-forum. As far as the short comings of the GTV6 at an autocross, a lot of it was due to me having to compete against former nantional champions in dedicated racecars with my street GTV6. Other disadvantages include, gearbox, ...

I have ran the car in STS in the past (street touring, - street tire), with limited success. The GTV6 isn't the best autocross car, it is much better suited to a road coarse.
