Just a pic? Is that all? Why is the windshield still intact? Where are the paint scratches?  :wall:

Re: Race Animal ?

Duk:Surely the answer is simple! Front wheel drive, especially bonker powerful front wheel drives, SUCK!!! Traction deficient, tyre thrashing, undesteering pigs! Car manufacturers all around the world can do all they can to band aid FWDs, but you'll never see a FWD Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati, Mercede...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

I am not sure traditional gaskets can be reliably made in very low thickness, so I prefer to stick with the Goetze-Reinz quality track record. How thin AND reliable can gaskets be made?

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

Going from 1.6mm to 1mm head gasket will only raise CR from 10 to ~10.7:1 but you are correct, squish is very important and one way to promote it is to raise the piston by using offset conrod small-end bushings, a relatively simple job for any respectable automotive machine shop. For best results/re...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

Well, now that you have the new rods, the best thing you can do is carefully grind off those ugly lumps from both ends, balance the rods end-to-end and then polish the area as best you can. If shotpeening is available, go for it but cover the bearing and pin surfaces. Tip: Very small weight differen...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

A good test we do if compression is good is to lift the car up, drain the oil, remove the oil sump and then the bearing caps (except the rear main cap) one by one for inspection of bearings and crank journals. I believe this is a definitive test for engine condition. If necessary, you can replace be...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

For any kind of performance use, std rods should be more than adequate, given the very short stroke of these V6's. Why then do we buy aftermarket in this case?... I would urge someone to run back-to-back tests regarding tensile strength etc between std and Max rods... I once compared my THS V6 rods ...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

The Max... I put in my 3.2 did not have offset but they are centered on the piston pins when you shine a light up the bore -that's all I care to see plus the little thrust movement on the crankpins. Personally, I couldn't give a rat's ass about offset. I used Max... non-offset rods on Alfa 1.8T also...

Re: Another big-brake kit for 15"wheels.

No, we use 22-24mm master cylinders. I'm not sure what cars they come from but they are a drop-in fit. My mechanic finds them, I can ask next week. And, the brake proportioning valve stays put.

Re: Rear brake adjustment

Ahhh, you know it does! Fortunately, I can find 1-1.5kg steaks easily here. Pretty soon that's all I'll be munching on, as I will again have to lose ~10hp -sorry, kg!- a yearly occurrence!. Greeceland isn't doing too well financially, what with the useless commie government we have. Good thing ...

Re: Rear brake adjustment

What could possibly go wrong if I simply pring the pads into contact with the discs so that the wheel no longer rotates and them back off just a bit so that there is no interference ?

That's exactly how most people have been doing it for years...AND IT WORKS! 8)

Good! You're rich now with the billions you got for the 12v, so go buy a 1.8T and start fiddling with it! 8)

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

Well, if anyone wanted a1.8T bad enough, I'm sure they would get one from Europe. They are always available in ebay and elsewhere. However , new pistons/liners are almost non-existent. Std pistons can take ~450hp but for peace of mind you can go forged at ~700€ per set. Liners you can find from NOS ...

Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

Hahah, you can blame the weatherman for this, plus the fact that I'm away on vacation from today and will be back end of the month. Talked with the dyno/mapper yesterday and we decided to do IT sometime in September. In the meantime, all is well with the two gta fans, even in this summer heat. Truth...
