Re: Jim K. 3.2 engine

Great to see that you have it running Jim.
So in the end how are the cams timed in now?
On the standard marks?
How is idle? Little rough or solid?
Why are you still running a maf sensor instead of a map?

Re: 3.0 24V - your suggestions

Interesting! Its 5 thou/1.25mm Mats. I have a set of C&B road medium (9.9 mm intake lift and little more duration at 268 seat to seat) so a little more duration then the road max profile according to C&B. Wonder how much duration they have at 1.25mm? One thing thats strange is this; AR24.SM2...

Re: 3.0 24V - your suggestions

I just wondered how you came up with the 1,2mm. if you skim the head the compression chamber wich is in the head gets smaller thus giving higher compression ratio. Mine is now 46cc leading to a compression ratio of 12,5:1 this is with a skim of 0,8mm. with your skim it is probably north of 13:1 but ...

Re: 3.0 24V - your suggestions

Saabretooth, just a quick other question;
You said that you had the heads skimmed 1,2mm are you sure that they skimmed it this much?
and did they cc'd the heads after they skimmed it?
I think that 1,2mm is a bit to much.
It would bring your compression up to aprox 13.5:1 maby a bit more.

Re: 24v headwork - power gains

Hi Alan,

Yes compression will be raised to 11:1 or a little over.

It has the short 2, 5 L 6 speed box with Q2 sperre differential.

I will try to do some flow and velocity checks beginning and after headwork.

Re: 24v headwork - power gains

Hi Jim thanks for replying, When you flowbenched the 24v head did you also check the velocity in the Ports? The car where the engine wil go in to is a 156 It must stay driveable on the street so good low down torque is a must. I have a set of intake cams from colombo&bariani AR24.SM2 Stradale me...

Re: 24v headwork - power gains

On the simpler and more practical side, some guy in the UK is about to try bolting on 2.5liter heads on the 3liter block and that should be a very interesting exercise! Smaller ports mean higher velocity and better low speed performance which is the main detriment of the 24v 3liter. Jim K. Hi Jim i...
