Re: a bad day...

And it wasn't Friday the 13th it was a Saturday ... might be time to shoot and burry her (the car) ... I've been tempted a few times over the years :) GV BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY: Not my typically good day in the shop... Cleaned some parts in the dishwasher..bad idea once the wife found out!! Got hit in...

Thanks Mats, have you ever seen them fail without leaking? My last one many miles ago started leaking before I even noticed anything was going on ... still it would be the cheapest and easiest first thing to fix wouldn't it? And if not I'll be set for the next 80K or so.

The more I think about this the more I'm thinking the car is due for a new clutch. What really bites is that I was just about to drop the money for upholstering the seats, so the mistress is demanding once again ... no wonder it's taking me 7 years to get the car back to its former glory

Worn Gearbox or Pressure Plate?

About two years back my old gearbox went crunch and lost 2,3,4 gears. Larry Jr. at APE grabbed another 83 gearbox for me and went through it just to check it over and replaced a few syncros - when it went back in the car it was awesome ... the car never shifted so well. So now almost overnight it ha...

Re: courtesy light timer thanks!!!

the car has always been garaged, and it's amazing how badly these hoses deteriorate even inside out of the sun. just poor quality to begin with i guess? thanks again, josef LA 1984 chestnut GTV6 15,000 miles! With just 15K on it those were probably all original hoses which means they were probably ...

Cool :) Can't believe that headgasket problem is still there?! Reminds me of my 73 Capri I once had - rebuilt a killer motor for it with a Wieand manifold, started it up with clouds of vapor out the exhaust - number 5 cylinder had filled with water and hydrolocked! Resleeved it thinking I must not h...

There is no timer - do the lights never come on or never go off? Also, most security systems have a light timer feature, so it could be something is up with that.

I think it's the ticker box that sits under the glove box and after so many thousand miles triggers the emissions light on the dash to tell you that you may be due for a new o2 sensor or cat or whatever. Pressing the button in resets it. I think it triggers every 50K or something. It doesn't really ...

I think it looks great the way it is, but smoothed in will probably be even better. xrad: yeah, then you see the smooth hood and it's as though something is missing - it's too plain! I like the look of what you did a lot - the way it is now is a bit more functional/race looking, if it was finished ...

Question - from looking at this original hood it appears that the air inlet really is just for looks as I only see two small holes on the inside of the hood where air could pass ... is that right? What would the effect be if the hood "really" worked, I think it would let cool air in + a lo...
