Bushing Removal

Pounded out the end link bushings using a sparkplug socket that was about the same diameter as the bushing. Note that one end of the bushing is camfered - when removing you want to drive it out from this end ... pound from this end. With a good mallet mine came out easily. Watts center bushing was a...

Hi All, Finally got onto the little project tonight - Watts link came off real easy with the help of the breaker bar and presoak of liquid wrench - probably didn't hurt that the dedion has been out of this car probably 5 or 6 times in the past. QUESTION: I'm also replacing all of the rear sway bar b...

Greg, That's a great read - the power delivery sounds awesome! Love your note "Perhaps more important than the peak numbers is the amount of power the engine has throughout the rpm range. It has a massive 220 lb/ft of torque at the wheels at just 2000 rpm. That's more than most 24valve 3.0s eve...

Mats, You're going to miss that car I am sure! but priorities shift don't they. We had a black 89 Milano that we bought around 1994 - it was in just amazing condition, drove it for another 8 years and sold it with I think 80K on it and it was still just as nice as the day we got it. We sold it...

Thanks for the feedback all! Realised I might as well take care of the rear sway bar bushings while I am under it. powderhounded: Sounds like you are putting a stock type bushing back in? From everyhting I've read on this site the only way to go is with the Powerflex Poly from the standpoint of func...

:D Cool! Thanks guys! Will go buy the Liquid Wrench and a steel pole tomorrow (already have a big mallet) so I'll be ready to go at it. Yeah, the manual mentions to knock the little tab out of the slot on the center nut first. Great to know I don't even need to jack the car up - but I need to pull m...

Steps to Replace Watts Bushings?

Okay guys - I'm getting down to the final untouched items of my cars running restore - the suspension bushings and car interior. I wanted to do the Watts Linkage bushings myself and plan to use Powerflex Polys. This looks pretty simple - can those of you that have done this chime in. 1) loosen rear ...

Rhodes1, As I said before the color is just fab. but under the hood ... I just can't stop looking! The red valve covers and intercooler look hot - contrasting color to blue you know! 1) What are you doing about the hood? You'll need that scoop on there right? - I don't know how fond I am of the Call...

Another shot of the engine, before dropping in.

Anyway, I have some wheel repaint photos around I'll try to put up. This summer the plan is for the suspension rebuild and seat upholstry and I will at last be done! Then it's just back to taking care of her.

Okay - bear with me here - this is a bit of a saga. After the repaint I had the car on the road for maybe a month after having sat for a good year while the repaint happened and when I had time to get it all back together (life happens), when I suddenly got a rod knock on the rebuilt 2.5 with maybe ...

And another view. The gray primer almost look like the silver paint before the car was stripped. Up to this point I don't think I'd waxed it for 10 years because there was just no point.

Here it is again after I pulled everything off and got it in to the paint shop in 2000. They reshot the car, the black trim and the airdam and side skirt trim.

Gulp! Almost 20 Years ago.

Hi All, I've been looking for these photos forever and just found them deep in a box of our kids photos - thought I'd share 'em. I've been doing the running restoration on this car since 2000 and am almost done ... :D This one is of me and my gtv6 back around 1988 - even though the car was just five...
