Suspension

Yeah Mats, a discussion on racing dampers is the next progression. How about we give it a topic of its own to help with future searches for info? Most other key components have a slot of their own already I guess.

Hey Zamani, I think you are onto something there, Mats does love BMW's here the most- so I am led to believe. I hear he wanted to sleep in one but couldn't get a heater big enough to warm his big feet stickin' out the window in the Swedish winter !! Could be just a furphy I dunnow? :D Hi big guy. Th...

Suspension

Thanks Guys for your feedback. Found the performatek site quite interesting. Will check out Benica too. So what is the verdict, 27 or 33 mm bars? Would this be a difference in application say like the terrain the vehicles would have to go over such as rally versus track. So a rally car may use 27mm ...

Suspension

Zamani, You may or may not be able to help me out here. I have decided to configure an Alfetta sedan for my racer. The reasons are many none of which matters here. I see you have some knowledge of torsion bars so I thought I would point this one your way. One quirk of the sedan is that it has longer...

Wheels

Yeah Merril, agree 100% about the need for centre locating spacers. I once fitted after market wheels that were only centred by the lock nuts. I had not end of trouble trying to balance the wheels. Not even an on car balance would do it. Ultimately I had a machine shop make up some centering rings t...

Twin Spark Engines

OK. Time's up. I gotta eat some humble pie (again) I can't get my hands on that 105 hp stuff so I am caving in. Still haven't even got a greasy finger off an old TS donk for sale.. like not even a whisper. What's goin' on? You can't all be curling up to your spare old engines at night out there sure...

Cooling System

Marco

Adding plumber's fluroscene dye to the coolant water will result in an extremely bright colour to be created in the fluid. Under pressure when the fluid is released, the leak should be visible from Mars !

Use of a U.V. light will also help.

Good luck.

Ccooling System

Could I suggest you have the system pressure tested and you maybe able to detect the actual leak. Once you know what it is, you could repair it properly rather than do a band-aid job.

Mats ..an extra 4 valves..what was I thinking ?? !! :( probably typing faster than the brain was working. Some good info there which is appreciated. Seems like the 75 TS would be the concesus. Just for the hell of it, I will try to find my original info for you Mats. Had a quick look but can't seem ...

Twin Spark

Mats, brilliant link. Read it cover to cover but I still dont get a clear picture that emerges. Whats the bottom line here? What head goes with what block for the biggest bang for the buck? (naturally aspirated) The lingering question I have is : Should you try to make a 16V 155 engine adaptable for...

Twin Spark Engines

One for the engine Gurus out there. I would appreciate some advice. I am referring to the 2.0 litre version of these engines. I understand that they are produced in 8 and 16 valve configuration. As I am trying to buy one of these suckers, I need to know which car they came from, some idea of power d...

Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner. There are no factory balance marks that I am aware of except maybe on the clutch/flywheel assy. You need to make marks yourself by applying marking paint or some other technique to register the assembly in the position it is in before taking it apart. This goe...
