Differentials

Thanks Jose, I thought that I was somewhere close. Do you have any contacts where one could buy one of these guys? On reflection there is still something not quite right. Surely the 1.6 would not have had an LSD ? I have a friend who has a 4.56 with a close ratio gearset and LSD. The gears he instal...

Sway Bars I have seen lots of postings about the use of different sized sway bars and some of the European configurations use some big numbers like 33mm diameter. I do know that these would be hollow bars. What I don't know is the correlation between the solid bars and hollow bars and the wall thick...

Gearbox & Differential

Down to business...

Does anyone know the complete range of short differential ratios available for the transaxle from the 4.1 up?

Who can supply them?

I have been told that the 75 1.8 litre turbo had a short diff around 4.5 ? Is that correct ? Where could I get one from?

Thanks

Race Cars

I guess this Chapter will naturally evolve if there is a genuine calling not just from myself and a few others but the wider fraternity. Otherwise it will just die in the bum from a lack of support. So I suppose time will tell what the real needs are. Matts to keep to things simple, I don't think th...

Yep agree Matts.

When I said I was looking for specs/ingredients call them what you will, this is what I meant.

Lucio There are many and varied opinions about this item. I run a 164 motor in my GTV and use a mechanical tensioner that has the tension set at the time of the belt installation. Works perfectly. The only caution is that you need to keep low revs until the motor is warmed as the final tension is ac...

Race Car

Hey Matts

Mate, I am at the bottom step in making a racing 2.0 litre Alfetta and yes I would be happy to get any worthwhile specs even from a bent Swede. :D

JJ

Just love the info. It's this level of detail that is helpfull when racers want to do some planning about which way to go. Thanks

Race Cars and Track Preparation

I gotta eat some humble pie here. My accumulation of Alfa knowledge has been slow and over time I have come to know the general groupings of the productions series-or so I thought. I originally thought that there was the 101 series, followed by the 105 series all of which were rear wheel drive and f...

Race Cars

Hi Matts I will leave the academic debate about 75's in or out for others to express their opinions as it is of no material significance to me for the purposes of gathering knowledge about what is materially the same car. Moving on.. The information should be about a 2 litre car to satisfy my need f...

Murray I hate to pour cold water on your expectation from a mere gas change. In my opinion, you could use ammonia gas and it would still not make any difference. There reason is that the evapourator unit is too small to create sufficient heat scrubbing from the cabin. The fans within the evap. unit ...

Race Cars and Track Preparation

Don't see why not Matts. The spirit of the thing is to share info applicable to Alfa transaxled cars so I have no problem with it. It would be a shame not to benefit from that knowledge base. Particulary when we are crossfitting components from one to the other etc. On another plane I am looking for...

Thanks Michael,

Judging by the good humour this section has kicked off within a spirit of "getting to know you", the section should produce some great stuff in the long run for the benfit of everyone interested in racing Alfa transaxles.

I hate to say this (but you just know I will) all you looneys (I'm fine)need a crazy corner to swap this home grown humour. Otherwise the rest of the good folk who are trying to get some technical info are going to get a bit miffed. So to set an example, I'm doin' a turtle and pullin' my head in. (N...

I get the distinct feeling that the Forum is mellowing, sort of evolving, into a very palatable mixture of luney tunes and fact files and what a great development that is. Good comradeship and Alfa's. Does it get better than that? Sure it is rewarding to read entry after entry about Alfa this and th...
