Re: Floor mounted pedal box setup

Hi Buddy. I drove a 2 litre Berlina around for a couple of years as a road car and the brake feel was typical of boosted road cars. A bit of a disconnect but effective braking (within reason). My 4 cylinder race cars have drop down pedals with 6.5 : 1 lever length ratio. I do not use any boosters. P...

Re: Floor mounted pedal box setup

Consider two VH44 inline vacuum boosters. One for the front circuit and one for the rear. Much like the 70's 105 sedans used.

Re: South Africa - 1982 GTV6 2.5 Restoration (50/100)

Hi Mike, Enjoying your work ! By the look of what you are doing and if you keep it up, this car will be worth a motza. The direction seems to be keep it original. Along those lines, if you want to take some advice from an old fart, resist the temptation to deviate from that approach. Collectors are ...

Re: Adrian’s lightweight Giant Killer 2.0

I recognise many of the traits immediately :D Very impressed with the weight. Best I can do without MASSIVE destruction and reconstructi...

Re: "Patches" MD's Final Racing Project

Hi Kevin, I cannot believe I completely forgot about the extended reporting from gtv-racer** about the custom bearing block. I blame it on tight underwear that shrank in the last wash. Back on track.. Let's look at the two very different times of use: 15vs40 minutes. The heat build up would ...

Re: "Patches" MD's Final Racing Project

Well guys, there is merit in those suggestions especially in distance motorsport of some sort like rally or 24hr events mainly to address serious wear issues. My experience has not been a wear issue and when stripping down the boxes, there are no adverse wear indicators to warrant such measures. My ...

Re: South Africa - 1982 GTV6 2.5 Restoration (50/100)

Amazing dedication Mike. Hot air problem A tip. In hot climates, there is a cabin heat problem from the large glasshouse. To compound the problem, the engine bay chassis rails carry the cavity heat into the dashboard and connect with the so called fresh air vents. Engine bay heat enters the holes in...

Re: "Patches" MD's Final Racing Project

Hi Kevin, We mustn't neglect the contribution from our long standing contributor to this Forum namely the Dukster. Always a good lateral thinker. Thanks Duk for the steel billet sandwich plate idea. If someone can get me the CNC software drawings for it, I would be willing to give it a go. That revi...
