Re: Hello from relocation to UK with my two South African GTV6's

MD, aaaah yes to clear up any confusion there is a simple explanation. However I won't tell you right now as you have been half asleep most of your life and I am waiting for your sleep pattern to resync.

Re: "Patches" MD's Final Racing Project

MD, just a question on that coil over. I could never start the spring so low down near the lower A arm because it would clash with the steering arm that comes off the stub axe so it had to start like 60mm higher . If I could have solved that then I would not have needed to open up the upper control ...

Re: Hello from relocation to UK with my two South African GTV6's

It is a red a vinyl tape which was UV protected. I don’t think it looks good when the bumpers are like bananas but it’s an 80s thing and original part to the GTV3.0 so I keep it. Even had part number on packet along with red sticker on the chrome heart.

Re: Hello from relocation to UK with my two South African GTV6's

Last up on the rear end was the watts linkage . As you cannot get the original bushes which I prefer, I had no choice but to use the aftermarket poly bushes . They are really good but nothing wrong with the shor hardness of the OEM part. One these were stripped out it can be seen I wasted my time as...

Re: Hello from relocation to UK with my two South African GTV6's

Normally this time of the year I head back to SA but as this was not possible I had some of my old race parts shipped over to me . Also some nice laser cut toys . If anyone is looking for coupling cages I have three left . You only need one to go on the front coupling as I have found that takes the ...

Re: Hello from relocation to UK with my two South African GTV6's

Next up was the rear calipers . This I had no choice as I had a leak in the left one and thought either I service one and then wait for the other to leak OR just replace both with new calipers. My old calipers were still in lovely shape with zero corrosion so I found them a new home with someone who...

Re: Hello from relocation to UK with my two South African GTV6's

With the limited time and travel restrictions in lockdown I have atleast managed to carry out quite a lot of maintenance work on the 3.0 SA carbi GTV. A couple of years ago I restored the entire front end with new bushes and Powdercoating parts before I drove the car to Zandvoort for the Spettacolo....

Re: Project 2 : front mount SA GTV 3.0 - Sei diff

Like with most of us not match is happening regarding tarckdays etc so I thought I would recheck and ACF the suspension on the track car as it has been in the UK for nearly 6 years. Can't say there was anything wrong but a refresh for the season coming up start it off fresh again. I had all the tarn...

Re: My rebuild!

Hi Jules Dammmm ! This is one amazing build. It looks like you have been saving all this energy and sponging all the GTV info up to to the ultimate build. The GP kit looks really good and allows the freedom to trim the arches. This has brightened up the -1 degree day outside with some good sofa read...

Re: SA GTV 6 race car - 3.4 L 24v, 350whp at 5800ft

Mario and Bjorn came up with a good solution on the lower A arms to correct the new roll centres without having to weld the uprights. Where the ball joint would usually go to be cut off to facilitate a Rod end. This was done at slight angle to stop any binding. The welding was done in accordance to ...

Re: SA GTV 6 race car - 3.4 L 24v, 350whp at 5800ft

A nice cowl with air intake for the gearbox to keep temps down. The exhausts are wrapped at this point as well. It must be noted that there are budgets that have to kept and unfortunately with the bad Rand at 23:1 to the Pound it's not an option to import well tuned headers made by the likes of Extr...
