Re: South Africa - 1982 GTV6 2.5 Restoration (50/100)

Hi Mike, that’s a massive effort . Hopefully you will inspire quite a few more guys to go the extra mile to do a proper restoration. Talking about zinc plating or yellow passivate I have found all nuts and bolts on the car to be this colour . Only the self tapping screws vary from galvanised (which ...

Re: "Patches" MD's Final Racing Project

MD , when I made drastic changes to my gear box cooling and moving to redline oil I significantly reduced the breakages . So more cooling in my 40mins races means better crown /pinion tolerances …. I think .. it was not mere coincidence but really did have an impact

As the heading suggests this car has always been a massive thorn in the sides of big V8s it’s had to do battle with over the years . I remember racing against its in our Trofeo series back 2007 but I needed 3.7 power to get away from it … probably mainly due to lack of driving skills but down the st...

Re: South Africa - 1982 GTV6 2.5 Restoration (50/100)

Good on you Mike to see your journey ! I think I used my A/C once in SA but then it was so poor I did not bother . The joburg heat and humidity is nothing close to what MDs feels there in Oz . I have spent quite a few months there and it’s honestly insufferable so I can see his need for it . Very go...

Re: "Patches" MD's Final Racing Project

You certainly have been really busy ! Small things like central jacking point on the front that strong and low enough for low nose Jack make life easy unless you have inbuilt gas jacks . You don’t really worry about rain into bulkhead in Oz . On the current turbo project we need engine bay bracing b...
