Re: Larger oil cooler

I must assume that your engine is correctly tuned. Simply running lean mixtures will raise temperatures. Confirm state of tune. Good point. An AFR vs RPM chart i have shows the mixture starting at 13 and enriches to around 12 at the top end. It is fairly old though, car got a few bits that could af...

Re: Larger oil cooler

Out of interest how long does it take to get to that temp ? What type of radiator you using ? ( for water) . What's the size of your pipe work? And the ID of your fittings. Jims book had great info there. It takes 2 hot laps to go above 120 deg. That would be 4-5 minutes of running. Water radiator ...

Re: Larger oil cooler

Yes, the car is used exclusively on track.
Already using a full synthetic oil. Amsoil, but i would prefer not to turn the thread into a which oil is better debate.

Larger oil cooler

I am looking into options to install a larger oil cooler as the slightly larger than OEM Mocal unit I have now is not up to the task. Oil temp (Stack oil sender and gauge) constantly reaches 120 C after a couple of hot laps. After reading some articles, I concluded that I want a radiator with more r...

Re: Son of Cab a FWD racer?

Don't get discouraged. I didn't even notice this was a poll.
Here are a few photos of my Alfa 156 GTA used exclusively for track days nowadays:

FWD can be fun and is definitely fast.

Re: 2013 Silverstone Classic ( 300hp beats 500hp !)

@Kevin: Thanks for the tip, I will contact them. I do have lots of photos, not the subject of this thread however so I will create an introductory post on the dedicated section. @Alan: The stuff you did with the car is nothing short of impressive, but I don't have the knowledge or the contacts to do...

Re: 2013 Silverstone Classic ( 300hp beats 500hp !)

Reviving this thread. Does anybody know if the supertouring/s2000 suspension components are available to buy anywhere? I struggle to lower my track 156 GTA car without compromising the roll centre so i am looking into options to adjust the geometry of the double wishbone. Also adding a photo of a S2...

Re: V6 24V camshaft saga

Most probably not. More than that, they are the original injectors fitted to the car 13-14 years ago. I am looking into options to fit new, bigger, ones. However, I couldn't find a local tuner confident that they can map them properly on the stock ECU. Standalone is always an option, but I can't jus...

Re: V6 24V camshaft saga

The cam timing is all over the place, definitely. There's no chance of it being right after what Jim mentioned on regrind proper timing procedure. Lean mixture doesn't seem to be the case. I checked AFR it stays towards the rich side throughout the range for both low and high engine loads. However, ...

Re: V6 24V camshaft saga

An update from my part. Put the car on the dyno and ended up with 230 whp. So I lost 10 whp after changing to regrind cams timed relative to the marks and not by setting lift vs TDC. To sum it up, since there was a lot of discussion above around dyno figures: - Stock 3.2, no mods: 210 whp - After fu...

Re: V6 24V camshaft saga

Thanks, Jim! About the dyno: I trust the dyno I use as being reliable, it's a mustang chassis dyno I used several times in the past. I don't look at the absolute value anyway, just at the difference between measurements so I cannot speak about how close these engines are to the declared power figure...

V6 24V camshaft saga

Recently ran into a bit of trouble trying to get some more HP out of my 3.2 engine. I tried fitting a set of regrind cams and, with the timing set on factory marks or even using the original GTA cam locks, the ECU complained about crank-cam phase being out of sync and ran in limp mode and didn't rev...
