Many thanks, guys.

And Murray, that's one beautiful motor.

Engine Stand

Where can I find an engine stand that will safely and reliably hold the GTV6? I see them advertised for small block Chevys, but I doubt that's going to do the trick. Who's got engine stands (cradles) for us, and what, exactly do I ask for?

Re: Tie Rod Adjustment?

Murray:

That's just beautiful! After I posted the last I recalled I had bookmarked an Alfa 75 site called Craig's Place. Went to it and found some steering diagrams, but nothing like this. As we say down here in Dixie: 'preciate it!

Re: Tie Rod Adjustment?

Many thanks, Murray. Worn inner tie rods ends sounds exactly right. I didn't even think of that. But I checked my IAP catalogue, and there they were. Pretty pricey, too. I wonder where those suckers are. I saw the tie rod diagrams you posted for Scott back in April of '07, but don't see anything the...

Tie Rod Adjustment?

While inspecting the front end on my '85 I noticed a lot of play in both front wheels. Thought it might be worn tie rod ends, but saw instead that as I wiggled the wheels back and forth the tie rods were moving at the inboard end, at the accordianed dust boots. On my spiders, there is an adjustment ...

Re: Bad wheel bearing or...watt?

Many thanks, guys. I've been driving for almost 50 years, and haven't known of an out-of-alignment rear end (although the only Watt link cars I've had are these GTV6s, and when I lost the center bolt out of the Watt link one night I found just exactly what that thing does). So, it seems the consensu...

Bad wheel bearing or...watt?

A month or so ago I began to hear a peculiar singing out of my tires (Toyo Proxis), much like snow tires running on dry pavement. Been running these tires for three years, and this was something new. It's definitely wheel speed related, not drive train related. Searching for answers to the mystery, ...

Re: Indexing NGKs?

Thanks, Mats. This is a 2.5 engine You are right, of course: The standard recommendation here for NGKs is B7ES. But several people noted that the slightly hotter BP6ES was the ticket if the plugs were oiling (which mine are...a little). Are the B7ESs four-electrode plugs? After many years with Lodge...

Dropping AC Unit

We're trying to replace my '85's heater valve with an E-Jaguar unit. It's much wider, has protruding fingers around the periphery (metal tabs bent and clamped down to mate the front and back parts of the unit together) and has proved just impossible fit. No way to get fingers/needle-nose pliers/ratc...

Indexing NGKs?

My last set of Golden Lodges are on their last legs. I'd seen a consensus here that NGKs were the way to go (I've tried Bosch Platinum +4s and wasn't happy with them), and after re-reading some of those posts I bought a set of NGK's BP6ESs. I guess I'd expected them to have four ground electrodes li...

Thanks, guys, for the information. You've saved me money, time, effort, and the spectre of yet another Alfa carcass in the side yard (my wife's tolerance is amazing. But of course, she likes Alfas, too. Her daily driver is our '88 Spider). Greg, your headlight conversion was second on my priorities ...

Alfetta clip to GTV6?

An airhead involved with her cell phone ran a red and wiped out the front of my just-out-of-the-paint-shop GTV6. My friend Alfa Stan says there's an Alfetta Sprint Veloce available cheap in town. Does anyone know if I can have that Alfetta front clip grafted onto my GTV6? Are dimensions the same? I ...

Ethanol Paranoia

Last December I noticed Ethanol stickers on the gas pumps at my favorite gas station in my home town. I shut off (had pumped 3-5 gallons as I recall), finished filling up at another gas station, and haven't been back to the old one. Yesterday I had the same problem at my favorite station in my work ...

What IS this stuff?

Over the years I've had my share of pivot ball blues. Broke one off in my 75/Milano (fortunately near the only phone booth on a 60 mile stretch of country road). My '85 GTV6 took a spell of unscrewing its pivot ball until we slathered it with Wurth's Blue Thread Locker and really tightened it down w...
