Re: GTV6 wont start
Hey, I just picked up an'86 that had been sitting in an Alfa shop (mechanic's car) for 3 years. 5k miles on a rebuilt motor. The fuel in the tank had gone bad. Had to remove the tank to clean the sludge and flush out the system. The petrol had turned to varnish from sitting. The sludge was sooo baaa...

Re: Tired of replacing box mounts??-Barry
Has anyone investigated getting these manufactured in Poly? From my understanding, the BMW E30 M3 guys had this done for the same reason, especially the Club Racers.

FS - Good Spare '84 Transaxle
I have a spare transaxle that I pulled from my '84 GTV6 when I swapped it. I installed most of the seals w/new except the side output shafts, but I have the new seals to go with it. The transaxle had 122k miles when removed and shifted fine even 2nd as long as you shift properly. I used Redline flui...

Re: performatek alloy fleewheel
Let me pipe here on this one. Performatek supplies EXCELLANT products. Andy has his challanges from his suppliers, But let me be EMPHATIC, he stands behind his product. This flywheel is balanced, but just like changing any other part in conjunction with others, ya gotta balance them together. Andy's...

Window Rubber Trim Shrinkage
I found a 'quick fix' for the old window exterior rubber trim shrinkage issue that a few have complained about. It's so simple that I saw it on my recent re-spray after passing the no man's land. SWAP SIDES!!! The interior doesn't get exposed to the sun so it doesn't shrink. The profile of the rubbe...

I'd check the coil, fuel pump & fuel pump relay. This is symtomatic of these items failing.

Re: any tricks to replacing the rack in a GTV6
Just read this post. Mats, you crack me up!!!! The suggestion to raise the motor is a good move. My Biturbo you have to take the motor mounts loose and shove the rngine forward all the way to the radiator. Otherwise, your vulgar vocabulary increases ten-fold..... One thing to help preserve the rack'...

Re: Front Crank Seal R & R in Car - Help!!
Finally got the hub off. I jambed a medium sized screwdriver up through the front donut through the rear engine cover, It didn't make it and you can guess what happened to me when that on went.... Big one held.

Tried that. Didn't work as the clutch couldn't hold it and the clutch is fairly new.

Front Crank Seal R & R in Car - Help!!
I'm R & R'ing the leaky front crank seal with the motor in the car. I cannot lock down the motor from turning (and I don't like the engine turning backwards) trying to get the hub nut free. Is there a homegrown method to achieve this w/o the 'special tool #^%*$&#????

Jason, I think I'd rather go up against that breed of dangerous characters there than what we have to contend with her in US. Let's see, crooked politions, corporate corruption and greed, zealot government, taxed to death which is why this country seceded from the UK, Chester the child molester prie...
