David, The rad fans from joedro look identical to my spare set. Ironically, a friend of mine bought the same set up from him a couple of years back for the fans & I chipped in to have a spare Biturbo radiator - win/win situation. The 1st set installed on my GTV6 have a larger fan motor on the RH...

shortlife, Try this mod for the rad fans. The Alfa's just plain suck. These are from the Maserati Biturbo and can be had from several parts places like Lenny at Autoitalia.com or Joe at maserati compound (check evilbay under maserati biturbo - parts & accessories. It's an almost bolt in swap. Th...

shortlife,

I wouldn't go cheap on this as this is a weak link and considering the work involved. I did mine recently and got it from Andy at Performatek. It's a Buggati OEM unit. It was around $120 USD last summer.

Oh yeah. Changing this TB is a breeze. You otta see what it takes to do a Maserati Biturbo! There's NO timing marks so dial indicators are required. The belt tensioner takes special attention to get it correct.

Daniel, I'm not following you regarding "a blocked oil gallery". Where is this located? Can you elaborate on this. My motor has the late model mechanical belt tentioner. This checked out OK when I did the TB change and the belt doesn't appear to have too much tension. If the distributor/oi...

David, You're right about the Corporate Alfa interference. However, they were trying to compete with BMW's 3 series at the time and were trying to keep the price similar. I think the GTV6 was around $20 - 23k when new. I bought my '83 in '84 from a guy that was a VP at Behr of America who manufactur...

Daniel,

Thanks. I'll take a look at the distributor/oil pump pulley and see if the bearing is OK or not. Makes sense this could be the culprit. Is the bearing available seperate for this pulley?

P, That could be a possibility as the mechanic owner I was told rebuilt the motor. I wonder how to check this out without a teardown. The engine is solid and runs like stink. Just nervous rev'g her with the belt hanging out. I remember my '83 years back didn't have this situation. From the pulley ap...

I inhereted the motor in this condition. I was told that an Alfa mechanic owned this car and I can believe it from the work done. It's got the updated tensioner and appears to be correct except the alignment.
