Re: Limits of 24V engine?
Time is going fast. At last spring I had some discussion with that company. Very capable shop indeed. They said they will look for drawings of the triple belt system and make an offer about most critical parts, but I never got it. Maybe they couldn't find them. So the belt is still a problem. It see...

Re: Limits of 24V engine?
Interesting pics indeed! If those hp numbers are real and it's 3.0, then it really must rev. If someone knows ANY more details what's done to that engine, it would be great if that info could been shared.

Re: Limits of 24V engine?
So at 8500rpm some bad things start happen. The belt cannot take it anymore and long stroke comes an issue. That's important information! Thanks Kevin and mjr. What happens to belt, is it just jumping off, losing timing teeth by teeth or does it fail mechanically due to too high loading and speed? J...

Re: Limits of 24V engine?
I didn't knew that the DTM engine wasn't related to Alfa engines in any level. Thought that the rules were forcing to use some original parts. They may also be gear driven, but not belt driven for sure, I could eat that. I red some topics about converting hydraulic tappets to solid and don't think i...

Limits of 24V engine?
It's known that 12V engines get in troubles with valve train when revving too high. 24V shouldn't have that kind of problems, but guess they got their own limits to? Sure it's somewhere, but where? Can it take 10 000rpm? The 155 DTM cars used chain drive on 24V engine to past 10k limit, but that mig...

Re: A 'budget' race car is born (slow delivery)
Usually we do the rough adjustment on warm up and some fine tuning during the race if needed. If it's dry all the day, there isn't much need to touch on bias. If pads were new (only bedded in) on start up, they may still change some on race. If weather changes, then the adjustment is must, as Mats a...

Re: A 'budget' race car is born (slow delivery)
What kind of pads are you using? Big vented rear discs may loose their temperatures on long straights and if pads are temperature sensitive, you may end up to unlogical behaviour. Doesn't mean that this is the reason for your problems, but one guess.

Re: 24v 3.0
Thanks for the information. I'm thinking about having some cams regrinded, so it really helps if can use any 24V cams as a blank. Not sure yet if wanting GTA profiles or something a bit more aggressive. Have to think about it. Is there any numbers about different 24V cams anywhere? Duration and lift...
Re: 24v 3.0
Does all the 24V cams fit all the 24V engines? It seems to be common practice to use GTA intake cams on 164 based 3.0 24V engines, so those should fit at least.

None of the cars using UJ's etc. have ever broken any cranks here. They dont of course make anywhere near 190Kw either. Mine has broken the flywheel bolts but that is for a different reason. The bolts bottomed out in the crank and didn't make sufficient tension on the flywheel. Having said all that...
