Titanium headers? Is there an alloy that won't turn to dust over 500 degrees celsius? Surely Inconel will do fine, no need to over-do it... ;) Toyota f1 (TTE Koln), uses inconel, one header about 100 hours hand work and will only last 800 ~ 1000 Km. Anyone ever worked with inconel? Foto from...

What about adjusting the driveshaft to accept ehhhum bmw M5 donuts, they handle that kind of power ok.I dunno about the donuts. They are OK with 190 hp and 8200 rpm so far. Double the power and we might end up braking them.

 I am no way near a really smooth full out lap, just 25% of the corners is near max. So if I would be a driver brakes won't be a problem at all for my laps  Ok back to business: DeDion can easily be strengthened to take the forces. I would be more concerned of mounting point of the dion c...

Aaargh wrote a comment and its gone, Short version: Mats, never tought there would be a propper oil film between the whole piston length and liner. Always thought the oil between ring 1 (topring) and 2 had to do the trick, the top ring would scrape oil to prevent getting in the combustion room. So b...

I was looking to the piston only, one pivot point (piston pin in connecting rod). Reacting force against rotating the piston has to come from the piston ring contact area. So moving the piston pin down will lower that contact force in piston ring vs liner. But your comment is also true, there has to...

Thanks for clearing that up Jim. From an engineering point of view it is absolute madnesss though, increased force on the liners and surely acceleration forces on the rods. On the second generation 155 stw engines they even removed one compression ring and made the wrist pin smaller to get a longer...
