Glad to hear you solved the problem. It just goes to show problems can be solved in many ways. When I wrote the 3.0L conversion document it was while actually working on the engine and I was much happier doing that than typing. There are a number of things, in hindsight, that I should have added suc...

Joey, Yes I'll take them. PM on the way. By the way, have a look here, I think they have it all in AUS. It pays to read some of the MSEFI stuff. As they say BUGGER! http://au.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/searchPage2.jsp?x=40&Ntt=ztx751&Nty=1&N=401&Ntk=gensearch&y=5 Do a search on...

Mark,
Here's the "clamp" I used to press the new one in. The collar from a standard 2in aluminium irrigation pipe fits perfectly over the rubber boot.

Murray, Is that extractor for the tapered shaft? It's the top part I think Mark has the problem with Mark, If the top is the problem, I found by keeping lots of pressure on the top bolt with the nut removed, with a puller, I drove a large screwdriver between the A arm and the ball joint case. Once i...

Michael,

I haven't had any further problems with tach spikes since the "Dave Cap" was installed. I'm still learning the fine tuning but don't want to mess up what Peter Webb has sorted out for me.

I recall I had the same problem with Peter's schematic but from my notes, I think I followed Steve's instructions and everything worked OK.

Perhaps Steve can confirm this for everyone.

Joey, Yeh, don't remind me. It still hurts and I only ordered 2 of the ZTX751's. I wish I had known you were ordering as I would have picked up a couple more at the same time. I'll take a couple of the ZTX751's please. (As long as your AUS freight charges are reasonable). Actually it might be cheape...

Joey, I gave you a bum steer on the ZTX751 & IRFIZ34G. I did end up having to go back to Digikey for the ZTX751. How could I forget, I ticked the wrong freight box and they charged me $1M for freight although I did get them in 3 days. I have a spare ZTX751 & 3 x IRFIZ34G's but will need them...

Joey, Jaycar have some larger square ones that fit really well around the fan cables plastic casing. I didn't mean to bag Jaycar generally as they have a great range of stuff, it was only when looking for alternatives to things they don't stock they lost interest. http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productVi...

Joey, Jaycar Bris gave me much the same response & weren't much help. I got most of the extra bits from Prime Electronics. They were most helpful. Let me know how you go, I'll pick them for you if you can't get them. www.prime-electronics.com.au The stuff you have looks very similar to the extra...

Peter,

Have I missed something here? I originally had tach spikes and the "Dave cap" fixed the problem by increasing C12. I don't recall doing anything to R10.

Joey, Bill, Static discharge ?? What's that? Just kidding. I never worried about it. I cut off the L-Jet pins in the case and left enough for small spade connectors. Only a few $$ for a bag of 12. I then used heat skrink to cover the spade connectors. I made a couple of mistakes with the pinout, but...

Murray,

I've had to buy them as a spare part. Just as hard to find in "metric" Oz as well.

Michael, The fuel pump runs with the ignition on with MS as the AFM used to control this. ie, the AFM had to open by cranking or running to start the fuel pump. This is one of the great reasons to get rid of the restrictrive AFM. The fuel flow is still protected by the emergency cut off in the event...

Jacob, I use a piece of angle iron drilled to take 2 flywheel bolts and 2 holes of the bell housing holes. Bolt it up tight and there's no way the crankshaft can turn. I've done this while the engine is on an engine stand. I might be able to take a couple of photos on a spare motor if you need to se...
