I downloaded a lot of Alfa workshop manual info from this site: http://mark.denovich.org The Zip files are much better quality than the screen shot here. Seems to be down at the moment, but lots of useful workshop manual stuff. Here's a sample page of the engine section index, This section covers en...

It's messy, it's greasy, but not difficult to clean, repack with with grease and replace the boots. They are probably the originals, so replace them and worry about them in another 20 years time.

William, I guess I'm suggesting it may be the normal gear cluster rattle. I tried a synthetic transaxle oil and noticed a distinct increase in the idle rattle and 2nd gear crunch when changing. Changing the oil (twice) back to 80W90, I have noticed the "rattle" has gone and 2nd gear changi...

Alfa 75 Parts for Sale

I'm currently dismantling a 1987 75 Alfa. Body & interior in good condition. Good doors, guards, grill headlights, etc. Original 14" rims in GC and near new Firestone tyres.
Let me know what bits and pieces you are looking for.

Milanoman,

I installed MS when I did the 3.0L conversion so don't have before and after power figures. I've still to put it on a dyno. I'll see if I can track down some duty cycle figures from the MS logs.

Jes, I am running the 2.5L pulley, AC, alternator and water pump on a 164 3.0L 12V. They all line up perfectly. I intend to use the 3.0L pulley and crank sensor when I add spark to MS on that motor. Have a look at the 3.0L motor in my 3.0L conversion document in the Technical section. You'll see it ...

Jes,

The 164 3.0L 12V crank pulley will fit straight on the GTV6 2.5L motor.

Milanoman,

Have a look at my 3.0L conversion in the Technical section. I have larger inlet runners, no AFM, larger air inlet, S cams, Pace extractors and running MS. Stock injectors are more than adequate with MS showing relatively low duty cycles on the injectors.

Mats, I tend to agree with you. The hydraulic de-tensioner will go into de-tension mode just cranking the engine with the starter so on a cold engine the belt would be too loose once the engine is running. My "theory" on the purpose of the de-tensioner is simply to keep the belt tension th...

Jim, I agree, that separator will never do a thing at high revs which begs the question, were these engines always designed to burn some oil this way?. I've only ever noticed black smoke at full power and I seem to recall reading somewhere the L-jet goes into 15% enrichment at full throttle over a c...

Vince, There isn't an air intake in the crankcase. I put an oil catch can on my GTV6 but I must admit I don't think it helped that much. I would be careful about plugging that hose. I originally restricted the flow through the catch can and 2 tappet cover gaskets gave way over a few months after a c...
