Re: 3.2 V6 - removing the oil filter heat exchanger

Thanks for the tips In the end I got it out without any tricks - used a 3 foot long reversable 250ftlb torque wrench, so brute force did the job! Now just need to source the correct threaded replacement fitting, or figure out how to remove the correct one from my 12v block without destroying it. che...

Re: 3.2 V6 - removing the oil filter heat exchanger

I'm also in process of "undressing" a 164 sourced 24v for my GTV and have just removed oil filter/cooler assembly - which looks just like the first pic on page one of this thread. The block fitting underneath is in the style of the bottom right hand one in Kevin's photo of three types, but...

Re: 3 liter, 24 valve engine project

Michael, Seeing as it's already structurally welded, just apply a lowish temperature solder like plumbers use on copper heating pipes to plug all the pinhole leaks The melt / flow temp is low enough that it won't affect the alloy component or the welding but high enough that all normal engine bay te...

WANTED 2.5 v6 engine, late model (156, 166)

Wanted - 2.5 v6 engine from a late model Alfa like a 156 or 166. Must be from an Automatic and have the later poly V belt front accesories pulley. A Non runner will be absolutely fine - snapped cambelt, missing heads, belt valves etc - all fine, as I only need the bottom end for an experiment. Locat...

Re: Milano Twin Turbo

Hi Greg - Nice job indeed! Is that car still running a transaxle, or a front mounted or otherwise stronger gearbox? I'm curious as that motor spec should put the output somewhere well up over the interesting side of 300bhp & 300lbft torque. Wondering how the driveline will hold up to that kind o...

Re: MSI build questions regarding magnetic chokes. S.R. build.

I reckon that would do the trick, also and more simply magnetic chokes work too. Like this: http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=0238283- Although I just picked mine up from a local in car audio shop. I must admit I'm giving hints purely from memory a si...

Re: MSI build questions regarding magnetic chokes. S.R. build.

Hi, From memory I just used whatever size had a big enough cable hole through the middle to fit over the power cables for the fans - 3mm hole or so would do it. As an asside, haven't touched my MS install for several years - once it's fine tuned there's no reason for it not to be completely reliable...

Re: MSII+Motronic+EDIS

Hi Henrik, Welcome to the forum! Regarding EDIS you will need to use a version of the Ford 36 tooth wheel, as unfortunately the Alfa 60 tooth wheel is not compatable with the input the EDIS system expects. Regarding injectors check out the part number but if yours are 0280 150 105 you will find they...

Re: Niclas Rosengren (Sweden)

Hi Niclas, Great car and lots of ingenious fabrication to improve the chassis! One thing bothers me enormously when I look at the front suspension photo's - the drop link for the steering arm connection. I appreciate it's there for a reason and gets the steering arms working more horizontally, but e...

Hi Paul, Check that the AFM isn't sticking shut as there's a micro switch inside it that allows the fuel pump to run - wedge a screwdriver down the AFM to hold it open then turn the igniotion to the normal running position. You should be able to hear the pump running. If it does, take the screwdrive...

Greg, Follow Sh0rtlife's suggestion and take the dizzy off the car, it's much much easier to dismantle then. Remember to put the engine at TDC1 first to simplify putting it back together again once you're done. Whilst at the dizzy check the thick green wire that comes off the brown plastic plug on t...

Hi Brett, There's no problem with using resistors as opposed to the flyback circuitry. both work fine. Although I thought the newer board builds had the option for heavy duty built in flyback circuitry? Sorry for not replying earlier, I only just noticed the post. BTW, haven't touched my MS system p...

Personal Mail function?

Is anyone else having trouble with the Personal Mail function?

I sent a couple recently, but they simply do not appear in my sent box, sitting in outbox instead.

Any ideas?
