Re: transaxle upgrade's

Gtv-racer, your int flanges a nice piece indeed. And I think it will help, I'm just sharing my thoughts and opinions As for the support bearing. No need to attach it to the case at all. It's fiction would be to stop the shafts moving away from each other not tie them to the case. You could machine a...

Re: transaxle upgrade's

I understand the thrust load goes into the intermediate flange but I feel with the gear sets trying to push away from each other and the added thrust also trying buckle the shaft it would only compound the forces involved. Take a piece of string and lay it straight on the table. Try to push it from ...

Re: transaxle upgrade's

Hi Gtv-racer, interesting to see your modifications taking place and very nice work indeed I do wonder if they are in vein though as I feel you are tackling the pinion alignment issue from the wrong end, literally! After looking at the abnormal wear on pinion and crownwheels I feel that shaft flex c...

Re: Front - Rear track width and transition while cornering.

Killaz, to answer a couple of your questions. The rear roll Centre is the central pivot for the watts link, if you move this you move he roll Centre. Standard it is on the top side of the dedion, most racers move it somewhere between the Centre and lower level of the dedion transverse tube. By lower...

Re: Modified 3.2 24v lower oil Sump wanted

Alfaaa1 if you get stuck send me a pm. In general. Who really is thinking of converting to 24v? And what parts seem to cause the most trouble for people to obtain? If there is enough interest I may be enticed to put together a basic 'kit' to get the ball rolling for those that don't feel it as a via...

Re: Front - Rear track width and transition while cornering.

Hi Killaz, seems most of your mods are heading in the right direction. From my experience you can't go too wide, the rear end of transaxle cras have a very high roll Centre and respond very well to lowering it. If that's an option I highly reccomend it. Otherwise remove as much flex as possible. Ros...

Re: v6 3.0 12v rebulid and mild tuning

If in doubt you can get it re-nitrided and ground. Most competent machine shops will know the process. Usually ground close to require size, then nitrided then back for final grinding to accurate. Not cheap but may be worth it.

So Jim do you run the standard 19mm master cyl with the 4 pot calipers?

Hi Killaz, just curious the holes in the restrictive do they go right through as in one hole either side or just one hole on one side of the brass piece?

Re: PICTURES-Different wheels for Alfa`s.

Wise choice ;) I'll be going along similar lines once I'm happy with everything. One benefit to the bigger bearing and hub from either Bmw or Audi/vw is it adds stiffness to the assembly. Which def helps when running tight tolerances.

Re: PICTURES-Different wheels for Alfa`s.

Forgot to add. I'm not a fan of redrilling wheels as there really isn't much meat usually in around the Centre on most wheels. Although many seem to do it without consequence. I prefer to adjust the Hub to suit, especially with large diameter and wide wheels, you end up with a lot of leverage over t...

Re: PICTURES-Different wheels for Alfa`s.

I'm using wobble nuts at this point to confirm fitment and clearance etc... Will convert front hubs to 5x100 at a later date and use adapters at the rear once I'm happy with everything. Thankfully the Toyota 86/scooby brz has opened up the aftermarket world of wheels in usable offsets and sizes for ...

Re: PICTURES-Different wheels for Alfa`s.

Alfaa1 both front and rear will be dependent on wheel alignment specs and obviously ride height will play a roll. Wheel offset around plus 40 in the front. And with 265's I'd guess around plus 25-30 on the back. I have +22 with 9" wheels but also 2 deg neg camber on the rear. Without neg camber...

Re: PICTURES-Different wheels for Alfa`s.

Alfaaa1 I think with very careful offset you could make them work. 265 will fit but will be tight. I've got 17x9 going on all four corners but it takes a few sneaky mods to get them in the front. 245/40's all round.
