Thermostat Housing (internals)
The reason for this post is I have bought some new thermostat housings and I have had no issues, however I know of three engine rebuilds that have suffered blown head gaskets and after a lot of head scratching and quite a few thousand pounds later it was found the thermostat was jamming closed. Quit...

Re: South Africa - 1982 GTV6 2.5 Restoration (50/100)
Coming on nicely. The usual rust spots on the GTV6 except the one under the left rear tail light is common to SA cars as the factory put seam sealer between the rear valence and boot floor behind the battery well. When the taillights leaked water from perished seals it just got trapped and found its...

Re: Hello from relocation to UK with my two South African GTV6's
That is a ridiculous price, sometimes you think it’s a battle of egos at an auction and all sense goes out the window. It was a very good car make no mistake. In the greater scheme of things it is definitely one of Alfas rarest Homologation cars in terms of numbers produced. Time will tell to see wh...

You can also upgrade to the Powermods ECU and get the guys at “old Gotech “ to copy the map across to the new type ECU. I recently did this . Nice upgrade and you’re on windows 10 with a lot more functions and screens.

Re: front wheel rim fouls the sway bar lower mounting stud
Hi, yes you definitely get this problem with certain wheels I have tried. I have stuck with 25 offset on the 7.5j wheels. When i widened to 8j I added to the dish but then had to cut the body work. It’s a race car so it was neatly done and had no plastic sills. I can’t see anyone go wider than 7,5 J...

Re: South Africa - 1982 GTV6 2.5 Restoration (50/100)
This definitely has to be the most extreme restoration done by the owner on this forum. How long did it take you to take all the paint off ? Those rust spots are typical of SA cars, the usual high dust content from all the mines, farming etc finds itself into the cavities in the sills and blocks the...

I’m just glad you mentioned “young “ , I feel much better now. It’s way to boring to make poems about Ozzies …. every stanza ends in an “o”. Probably goes something like this … There was an old fart from Banyo, who drove an Alfa Romeo…… I will stop there as not to embarrass myself in front of your m...

Re: Engine smoking
John did your mechanic check how the seals fitted when pressed on as I mentioned there were some guides exported to SA that were a touch smaller in diameter who knows why !! So my mate had this nightmare issue a few months back. As he was not a mechanic he assumed all was good with his new green sea...

Re: South Africa - 1982 GTV6 2.5 Restoration (50/100)
Powder coating is always better in the harsher UK environments with all the salts on the roads . Only reason why I say this is the hardness (impact resistance) is better thus less chance of sharp siones chipping the coating away to the raw metal . However the preparation involved for powder coating ...
